Selective Media reporting. There is a shooting every day in Detroit and Chicago, Washington DC just as bad, but ignored by Media. Sensationalism sells … one gun on one campus, lock down, hours of TV coverage.
Meanwhile, 20 people die on the highway in auto accidents, several die falling down in their home, a couple of kids die falling off their bikes without helmets. No media interest … business as usual.
One home owner protect his family from armed intruders, reported as gun violence … the home owner could have exited the back door and not confronted the intruders.
I agree with gjarcher on this one with the selective reporting side of it. My city has a couple or three shooting and homicides it seems everyday and they make the local news and that’s it.
We had a couple of folks with actual explosive stock piles in their homes threatening to blow it off and the neighborhood. This has the local news covering it and no national. The police swat and bomb squad where in a stand off for 24 hrs and it only makes the evening local news.
I have to believe this is more the norm in my city compared to all the cities in the country and it does not get the national attention.
