Now thats rather backwards in my thinking… ](*,)[/quote:3ba1x3mp]
It seems that the state of Texas believes that if you can be trained to use a weapon in war and in defense of your country, that you should be allowed to carry for self defense.[/quote:3ba1x3mp]

I was referring to the part of not being able to buy it or buy the ammunition. I agree for them they can carry a concealed weapon, but they cannot have purchased it, and they cannot buy rounds for it, so what are they supposed to do, have someone else buy the gun for them and not carry ammo? :^O :^O :^O :^O :^O

Someone else, over 21, would have to buy the gun and ammunition to satisfy federal law.

In Alberta (Canada) our legal drinking age (for everything) is 18yrs.

I voted for 21yrs across the board. Reason being, is alcohol is alcohol (a glass of wine, bottle of beer, and shot of whiskey all contain the same amount of alcohol). Quite frankly, I wish there was another measure aside from age by which to judge things. It is not a matter of age … but of maturity. I’ve seen some real immature 14, 18, 20, 44, 50, etc. year olds and vice versa.

I believe how the individual is raised around alcohol, and how they develop their maturity with it, greatly affects what they do when they can purchase their own alcohol. (Much like Toxos and some others have pointed out.) I do not believe because a person can die fighting for their country is a valid reason to give them alcohol – in todays world someone can die at any time, and I’ve seen some forces individuals that are worse than everyone else at the bar. (Not that I don’t appreciate their efforts for my freedom.)

When I was young (~10yrs) my family would allow me a small amount of brandy, or wine, or beer at family gatherings (increasing as I grew older). When I hit 18 … because it wasn’t some new novelty … I did not feel the urge to go out and party it up. I already was aware of what alcohol did to me … and didn’t feel the urge to join with the rest of the posse in: “Saying hello to Ralph on the big white telephone” or “bowlings” or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods. If the drinking age in Alberta had been 21yrs instead, I wouldn’t have cared.

I always heard here in Wisconsin that the reason the drinking age went from 18 to 21 and has failed any attempt to lower it back to 18 is because we would loose all federal highway funding. I voted 18 beer 21 hard liquor.

Your right on this. The same reason Michigan went back to 21 and why Montana went to orange school buses. Too much federal control.

#-o I think that eighteen is a good age…Becasue when kids are in school they either have there older friends buy for them or they are going to parties where there is alcohol & drinking it.. So I say make the legal age eighteen & that will cut down on all the sneakn around, & ticketing from from the cops.. Like writing DWI & stuff like that.. Plus @ the age of eighteen that is a legal age to get married and have kids..

    21 for all.

My logic wouldn’t matter much to most of you and that’s okay. [=}=]
