I voted 18 for everything.I know many kids are not mature enough, etc, etc, but one of my reasons for the 18 year old age has to do with this…..If we can send a 18 year old boy to Iraq and have him/her fight for this country and with the very real possibility of taking human life, then thos kids should be allowed to come home and have a beer or a shot .You get my meaning. Kids are going to drink weather they are 21 or not. It just makes it a little harder.

Exactly….. No matter what , underage kids are going to drink.but I have to agree with Jeff and Alan…..

If Your old enough to die for your country…You should be old enough to have a damn drink….

Ever see a bar full of 200 to 250 18-20 year old Marines? :^O It can convince you just how formidable they are, and tell you many things about whether or not they should be drinking.

…So, you are considered an adult at 18, you can vote, you can own weapons, you can sign up to serve your country in the military, but you still can’t have a beer.
    I think that’s pretty weird.

:agree. When you are old enough to sacrifice and/or die for your country you should have full citizenship…whatever that age might be.

So if you can go to war, you should be able to serve as President as well?

    Why not?

Maybe we should raise the age for going to war to 45.

But, a full citizen can take the office of President at 45, not before.

I’m voting for 21, but with special circumstances. If you are under 21 and active duty or served this country, you have earned the right. There is a difference between an 18 year that’s been through bootcamp and an 18 year that has not been through bootcamp. IMO [=}=]

I think military with an I.D. card should be 18, the rest 21. When I joined and went home on leave to Pennsylvania in the latter 60’s, I could get served anyplace with my I.D. A friend’s dad that owned a bar told me the Governor of the state had passed the word not to arrest military for drinking under 21. Of course growing up in coal mine and steel mill country, I never had a problem before that; but, I did get carded a few times on leave. I went to a V.F.W. in Charleroi, PA., and the door man asked for a membership card and told me that I had to have a tie and jacket on that night for some formal reason. I told him I only wanted a beer and that I would leave and go on home since I was only out walking around. When he found out I was active duty, I was loaned a sport coat and tie that someone had left in the coat room. I also was not allowed to spend a dime of my own money there, and treated like someone special. Thanks Charleroi, PA. V.F.W. I’ll always remember that night. Also the hang over.

You would have to bring it up ](*,) …now I had to look it up and under my hair-brained idea, people will have to start going to war at 35 instead of 45 :thumbdown
