Update with pics.
I was slow to come around to Mathews solocams. Several Mathews Pro Staff shooters I know kept telling me I should get one, but I put off getting any new bows for years.
Then came the epiphany. In 2006, an out of state hunter near my Elk camp was having problems with his Mathews Outback … maybe those BowTech guys were onto something, eh? … he couldn’t put two arrows into the same side of the mountain, he was really frustrated. I volunteered to set and tune his bow, and in the process thought … What a sweet shooting bow, and a tack driver compared to my old Browning 6T6 heat, which I’d shot a personal best 555 NFAA Field round with. After I got him setup, I told him where I’d seen a nice 6×6 Bull two weeks earlier, sent him and his buddy on their way, and vowed to myself I was going to get an Outback for next season. Two days later, he bagged the 6×6 and I had a 6×4 in the meat coolers. I was now determined to have an Outback!
Roger Wheaton kept telling me to get a Prestige, claiming it was arguably the best all around bow in the Mathews lineup. Finally, I took his advice seriously. No luck finding one locally, but on a trip to Oregon, I stopped by The Bow Rack (Dodge Girl & Ford Dude) and shot the Prestige … 4 shots and I was in love again. It is now my spot n stalk Elkbow
Then age caught up with me, so I sold the 70# Drenalin for a 65# Z7 Magnum. Now I’ve got the itch to replace the Z7 Mag with a Creed, but waiting to see what’s in store for 2014 … hoping for something under 4 lbs mass weight, 340 IBO or better, and a string angle greater than 37º. In other words, something better than the Prestige.
