Joined: 1/18/2009just started 3d shoots (i mean i have my own targets i practice on out to 80 yards) but started going to various ranges this past year with my hunting rig- 80lb monster with FMJ arrows and a single pin HHA
course i just shot last weekend was no range finder and binocs. shot the open class (out to 50 yds)- won it with a 272. pretty tough course. standing on rickety homemade platforms, shooting through trees (2ft windows on some), uphills and downhills.
lots of really good shooters on this forum though- i just might have to get a target rig….
i average around that 265 range-
Joined: 12/11/2009well i went and shot this weekend and i shot open trophy on sat with my prestige and it was a great day to shoot. i shot 310 in open trophy and i went today and shot hunter class in the rain with my reezen and shot 4 up. felt like that was pretty good in the rain.
Joined: 9/9/2004I’m lucky in that various sportsman’s clubs in my area have a 3D shoot every weekend. They even have it organized so that clubs that are close together take different weekends in order not to step on each others attendance. I don’t look at 3D shoots as competition, but as practice for hunting season, but some guys are super competitive about them, especially the IBO guys! I shoot bowhunter/release class and where the IBO guys shoot from compared to me is unbelievable! Every club is different as far as scoring. Some count the X ring as just 10, others a 10X (ties resolved by counting X’s), and others as 11. I generally just shoot for 8’s, and take the occasional 10 or 11 as a bonus. I used to shoot in the 260’s – 270’s. After a new string & cable, bow tuneup, and a new T handle thumb release, I’m shooting consistently in the mid to upper 280’s. Nice! It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.
Joined: 3/25/2010I shoot local 3d clubs and asa shoots in hunter class with my reezen 7.0 at 60#. My average score from this summer is a 291 sometimes I do a little better but thats uselly an everday score for me. I just order a monster 7.0 and was wondering if anybody had an opion on how this bow would work for me as a 3d only bow.
Joined: 11/27/2008I shoot around 250 to 260 on 30 targets most count 5,8,10 and X rings as 11s! I shoot the hunter class!
Me and my buddy are usually the first ones there on 1 of 4 local club shoots and are the first ones out! I have gotten back and there are already 3 people on the books with scores over 300 so I do not believe I will ever get good enough win when these ghost shoot past us scoring over 300!!!!!!!!
The best I ever shot was a 288 out of 330 total and it was 10 degrees outside!
My daughter hunts when she has time and last fall she went to the last 3D shoot and shot a 270 from the youth stake out of 300. I got lucky and got a 273 man that was close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shot another 242 on 24 targets-had 5 12’s but wasted them with 4 8’s I have got to work on keeping my concentration for the entire shoot.
X2 … every course is different, target layouts are different, number of targets are different …
… maybe keeping track of time spent behind the targets looking for arrows would be a better way to measure ‘average’
