Last 2 recurve shoots I went to I shot the 0-40 yard stakes and I shot 296 and 310 on a 400 pt course (0-5-8-10).

    Adjusted for a 300 pt course that’d be 225.

FWIW I hate how some clubs just toss out the trad stakes, whimpy shots.

I won’t shoot them, I’ll run with the bowhunter class guys, and have shot some from the MBR………….on some tough courses. Those are pretty brutal, and the scores drop a bit, sometimes a bunch but……………..
when you lob one in and shoot better than the wheelies on a long one you’re in for a free soda at the halfway house :)

Speaking of sodas……………..anybody ever call “Coke round” while out on the range (pick a doable but very tough shot, farthest from the kill buys the others “in for the shot” a coke?

FWIW with today’s compounds and carbon arrows I’d expect a decent shooter to pop a minimum of 1/2 8′s and 1/2 10′s on a Bowhunter round, that’d be 270.

Scores? Eh, just pay your entry, have them write “Fun” on your card and keep them for your own records, so you can see how you improve on a repeat course as the season progresses.

BTW, I heard Walton’s Glen over by Marion IN is back up :thumbup

Might have to give the Switchback XT a run, see how terrible I do since I haven’t shot 3D or years (and then used a recurve).

My hunting bow, I run a HHA mover with a Viper front end with all but one pin removed (side pin- dislike vertical pins). I’ll shoot with my fixed pin buds, and use even yardage marks only (20-30-40-50)……………but since my sight is a mover I’ll only be shooting for “fun”.

Cam came in today, restring tomorrow…………zero this week…………..kids on spring break next week and I’ll be on the course!

    I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8D

I guessed at 270 since I usually average 180 – 190 on 20 targets. We only shoot 20 targets down this way. I usually shoot Hunter Class.

I shoot Bow Hunter Freestyle NFAA.

We normally shoot 40 targets and I run in the 380′s most of the time with several 390 and up scores. We don’t count the twelve ring here, just 5, 8, and 10.

We do have different classes but yardages normally are set up for traditional, ladies, and kids at shorter distances. Everybody else shoot form the farthest stake. It is not uncommon to have 50 and 70 yard shots.

This past weekend I shot about what my average is in the HC, IBO scoring, I shot 183 with eight 11′s which is pretty good for me, but I had three five’s which killed me. I have no idea what I’m going to start shooting when I get my A7 out there for the Open Class, I’ll be getting it out in a week or two :D

Who shoots 30 targets? Here in Hutch KS we shoot 40 targets. That’s 2 seperate rounds of 20, not 20 targets shot from 2 different stakes. :thumbup

When I was shooting open class I shot 290+ average. I’m shooting hunter class right now and have a 280+ average even thought my bow in’t really sighted in the way I want yet.
