Hey all, I’ve got a QAD Ultra Rest Hunter on my Z7 extreme. I’m having issues with my blazer veins hitting the rest before it drops out of the way, it’s still shooting accurately, but the veins are getting scuffed up and the felt on the rest is getting tore up. I had it installed at the pro shop and it is tied into the cable, I don’t know if the timing is off or if there is something else I need to adjust to fix. Anybody else have this issue? Any suggestions? Thanks!

sure, there are several things that need to be checked; 1) rest should have timing marks line up just before full draw(in the last 1-2 inches of draw).there is one mark on the rest, the other is on the thumbwheel. 2) arrow should be about 1/8″ nock high with arrow in line with berger hole. 3)has poundage been changed since original setup was done? this can alter rest timing. 4)loop may be pinching arrow nock because of shifting after initial setup. there should be slight clearance above and below nock inside loop. 5) bow should be checked for spec. hope this helps.

The cord should be tied in in line with the bottom of the grip also for proper timing

Thanks a bunch! I played around with it, made a few adjustments by your recommendations, I’m shooting tight groups at 10, 20, and 30 yards right now, but still looks like the vanes are hitting the rest. I notice that the mark on the thumbwheel passes the one on the rest at full draw, so I think I’ll have to take it to the shop so they can press it and adjust the length of the rest cable.

the lines should match at the rests full rotation,if it goes past, they just might not be perfectly scribed. it sounds as though the cord is a bit tight and raising too early in the draw, therefor it’s late on release, causing your clearance issues. you can adjust the cord yourself at the thumbwheel with a small(7/64″) allen wrench. if you back the allen screw out about three full turns, you can slide the cord just a bit and retighten so it lifts to timing marks just before full draw. give it a try if you feel confident and you should see results.

Does your QAD have the lock down or LD feature?  There is a slow motion video on youtube and many people think their QAD isnt dropping fast enough when the problem is the thing is bouncing back up right as the vane comes by.

Skip up to about the 50 second mark and you will see why the LD is important.

    Hope this helps.

it is only the very cheap one that doesn’t have the ld feature. we don’t even use them on youth setups, they really don’t work very well. the ld,hd, hdx, and mathews edition all have the lock down feature.
