What are you? Im asking if you had to choose one, dont say both.
and are you from the west or eastern side of the USChris, It wouldn’t let me vote. But I’m a meat hunter first then a trophy hunter. I shoot my doe first then if a nice buck comes along I’ll smoke him. In Maryland I can shoot more than one buck so I’ll try[/i:6exwaun7]to be picky on my second and third buck. I hunt both Pa and Md. So you can say I’m on the East coast.I like both for sure but I definately dont shoot does or a buck that I think I could do better than. I can afford the meat if i can afford to hunt, but i do love the wild game. And Im from out west to. I love them big antlers thoughI guess it really depends on where your from being that guys out here cant shoot more than one deer unless we are lucky enough to get an extra tag and we cant shoot does in some units either. That might be whyThe meat is the real trophy.
I will let a buck walk if I wouldn’t put him on the wall.
Mostly shoot does.
Joined: 2/21/2006I’m from the middle/North side and like it or not, I’m going for the trophy every time out. I will take a doe when hunting out of state in Iowa but my first and foremost goal is the BIG buck. Doe killing can come after the big guy is down. I will make zero appoligies for being “trophy first.” If the buck isn’t going on the wall, I’m not killing it. I have shot enough deer in my life, so holding out for the big guy has become what I am now. Given the choice, a 200″ or a doe, in my book that’s a no brainer. I don’t know anyone who would take the doe first. Buck/doe ratio where I hunt is doing just fine.
Joined: 6/25/2004I voted meat hunter, but I’m not sure that’s really the case.I think I’m just a “HUNTER[/color:1yvjmeej]“!!I’d still be hunting if I could only shoot a trophy,I’d hunt if I could only kill Does,I’d probably go sit in the tree even if I knew I had a slim to none chance of even seeing a deer.So I really can’t say I’m a Trophy Hunter or a Meat Hunter………….I’m just a HUNTER[/color:1yvjmeej].For bucks, trophy hunter, so that’s how I voted. But I’ll shoot does for herd management, so it’s not so clear-cut as that.
Joined: 2/20/2005For meat – I shoot does….. I amselective about bucks, letting smaller bucks go and prefer top harvest a muture buck.I let many deer walk in hopes of a nice rack so I guess that makes me a trophy hunter. Eastern US.
Joined: 6/25/2004I hunt for meat but a trophy buck contains alot of meat.
AlI guess I’m a meat hunter. I’ll attempt to shoot a doe each year for this purpose. On the converse, I have only shot 4 bucks in 13 years of hunting. I do prefer to wait out for a 2.5 year old buck. I’m from PA.
My dream is to let the air out of a 10 or 12 pointer with great mass and a perfect rack but until then I’ll fill the freezer with whatever comes along first.
EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT SEASON. I HOPE ALL OF YOU “TAG OUT”!!!!!I voted meat hunter, but my personal guidelines are no yearlings, whether bucks or does.
