I put mine out over mineral sites late May/ early June and keep them there until apples start dropping….usually late august. I put them on the apple trees until (community/prime) scrapes start popping up…usually around the first of October. I leave them on those scrapes through the rut, then move them to late season food sources, which in my area are my bulbed food plots (turnips, beats, radishes). I leave them there until the food is all gone, or they drop their antlers, which usually happens by the end of January. Typically, I keep them out about 8 months out of the year for whitetails. Now and again I’ll put some up prior and during turkey season to try to find some strutting zones to set up a blind to bow hunt.
I put mine out in late April over a mineral site. They will stay in the woods until January 15th the end of our hunting season. They get checked about every six weeks in the summer and every two weeks during hunting season. If an area starts getting tore up with rubs or scraps I will move one of my cameras to see what’s going on there.
