Could anyone explain the advantages, or disadvantages of the two. I will probably do quite a bit of target shooting as my son now wants to get into archery. Not sure about the extra length and weight for hunting though.

Advantages? The Hunter Hogg It is cheaper. That’s about it. No issues using the Hogg It for hunting other than it being a bit long if you have it extended all the way.
I’ve had both. Both are nice sights.I have the Hunter on my XT now for hunting.

For target shooting, though, I personally like single pin, moveable sights. But that’s just me.

I have the hunter as well. I really wasnt looking for additional moving pieces on my bow. I do wish that I had gone with the larger pin guard though.

I am ordering a new bow and all new accessories this week. I made my list with the dealer, and am just waiting to see what the availability of a Drenalin LD is before we place my order. I had spec’d a Small ring Hunter. But have been thinking about that choice alot the last couple of days. What are your feelings on the small ring versus big ring?

The small ring works well, but the last pin (5th) is right at the bottom of the ring. My bow shoots plenty fast (270ish), I just would have liked a little larger ring to open the spacing up a bit. That said, I have the wrap, light, etc., and cant imagine paying for the larger guard, etc., Plus, I am using the sunshade on my bow as well (also a 2 inch). Nothing broken, just hindsight.

Hogg-IT :thumbup. Extend it for 3D, Pull it back in for hunting. VN sight. I like it for hunting most. For those long hunting trips or when transporting your bow in a soft case, take the sight off in 2 seconds. You can’t go wrong w/ either, and if you order now you might get it by July!! ;)
