I have been thinking about picking up a pair of Avian decoys (hen & jake). I have heard a lot about the DSD djake decoy. The cost is about the same. Which is the better route to go and why?
ThanksI’m a big fan of the DSD decoys…been using them since the very first upright hen came out. The realism of the DSDs can’t be beat in my honest opinion. All We Do Is SELFILMEDIf i dont have enough money to get the avian decoys(they are good looking)what other kind should i getI have been thinking about picking up a pair of Avian decoys (hen & jake). ThanksDSD all the way. By far the most realistic turkey decoy on the market today.
I was in the same boat as the OP, wanting the AvianX, but was steered towards the DSD. A few members chimed in with failures of the Avian’s, so I went with the DSD. It was a little more money, but I ordered it and the DSD looks real! The DSD quality is great, and the colors are awesome. I am anxiously awaiting opening day!DSD’s baby! Bottom line you get what you pay for!In the Cabelas store they had those two makes side by side and to be honest a quick glance at the avian and the DSD you can get them mixed up easily. They are both a high quality decoy compared to some of the others. In the Cabelas store they had those two makes side by side and to be honest a quick glance at the avian and the DSD you can get them mixed up easily. This is exactly why I’m so confused. I want the DSD’s but the Avian’s are easier on the pocketbook.

Avians are heavier than DSDs are if that helps with your decision. DSDs are 100% made in the USA by hard working AMERICANS.

All We Do Is SELFILMEDNot to mention the DSD’s can be shot directly and not look like theres a scratch on them. Go check out some videos. I’m not a fan of the Avian’s only because you have to blow them up every time you collapse them and then god forbid a stray BB caught a decoy or got poked on a stick and then that think will never hold air again
I picked up the DSD breeding pair this year. I feel happy with the purchase but I’ve yet to use them. I’ve never really been upset when I’ve bought quality gear, and I really don’t feel like I’ll need to anytime soon. These decoys are way to rich for my blood, what can you recommend for an old man on a fixed income $50.00 or less? That Crazy Old Man in Utah My Bow: Prime Impact 60# @ 29" -
