I had the pleasure of taking Boomer and one of his lil buddies hunting for youth day Saturday morning. Youth day, for the past several years has consisted of Boomer and his sister having to take turns going. This year was Boomers turn to go….and I was shocked but very proud when he asked me if Eddie could go along. Of course I told him that it would mean that Eddie would be up to bat first. He said Dad, I’ve killed a couple and I’d like to see Eddie get one. Boomer gets to go hunting all the time, and I must say that he probably doesn’t appreciate it and maybe even takes it for granted sometimes…..compared to some other kids who dont get to go anyway. I hope I never forget Eddies eyes lighting up when Boomer asked him to go……and not to mention the excitement I seen, felt, and heard as I sat over his shoulder whispering instructions when that big ol gobbler came out in front of us in full strut and gobbled in our faces. WOW!!!!!
The pics were taken with a dang phone camera…..trying to get two 10 year olds out of bed and to the woods with face masks, shotgun, and shells was enough of a task, and I slick forgot my camera. These photos did catch the excitement of the moment though. I snapped the bottom pic of them as walked back to the truck, I really love that pic.
