Just curious …In your circle [Excluding here and your dealers] ….
How many hunters, shooters you hang with have a press and /or the knowledge to completely strip down a bow and into specs again !!!…

are you the only one..or is everyone now into their own work? …

Techno Whiz is just a complimentary nick name for self bow technicians :-B :thumbup
    :D
    Thanks Neil

I have a decent amount of knowledge, but I don’t have a “real” bow press…..just a portable one for emergencies. I’ve learned quite a bit through this forum and other archery media, but I trust my dealer to “fix” my mega-buck investments. Moreover, I don’t have the space in my basement to set up a press (when you’re storing everything for two early/mid 20s daughters, room disappears in a hurry). That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. :D

I have a press, and use it a lot. Actually, I have complete bow shop in my house. I do have a couple buddies who can do anything, and everything if need too, and they have there own shop. But, I do most of the work on my friends equipment when they need, or ask for help. I love working on archery equipment, and helping my friends out when they need it. From tyeing a simple D-Loop to a 100% complete tear down to clean, repair, or maintenance. :thumbup

I have the “nuts and bolts of archery update guide” from AT plus Neil’s tuning guide and several other articles saved in a binder. So much of those articles mention pressing a bow and that’s why I bought the press and have done some very minor press jobs. I have a small archery shop with a vise, press and all the other necessities. I’m a low tech guy and I’m not looking to change my career nor start another when I retire ;;)

I really want to get my own press so I dont have to take my stuff to my bow shop. the stuff they say compared to what i read on hear is completely opposite or the famous words “you dont really need to do that” or what they really mean is “I’m too lazy to do that” and tell me that most of what i read is wrong.

I don’t have a press but know a certain forum member that moved here not to long ago that has one with the knowledge to do the work. Just need to find time to get him to teach me how to do stuff :whistle

I have a home made press, draw board and bow vise and do my own bow work thanks to the information obtained from this site. I do help friends with their equipment but usually try and get them to go to their dealers  except for my good hunting buddy and his kid.
