I hunted hard all weekend.  Very little activity.  Hot and rainy, but I have some good trail cam pics that have me looking forward to next weekend…

Little cooler this weekend.  Hunted all day Saturday & Sunday.  Nothing but young bucks in bow range.  I have yet to see a mature doe from my stand, only on the ground.  But the yotes are acting different this year, stopping in front of trucks and 4-wheelers, almost as if to dare us….wonder if the coyote population increase has the deer more skittish?

Feel lucky 73Saint I have yet to see a deer, period.  I sure hope this weather gets them moving.  I am going to Central Ohio next week and they haven’t cut the corn yet,  so that could be touch and go, but at least the weather is looking good.

Fellas…I leave tomorrow afternoon for 10 wonderful days kicking back in my summit in a tree in Buffalo County. Hopefully to get us a few more points too. Maybe one shooter on film(debatable) this year. Many many 2 1/2 year olds and coyotes along with bobcats this year as well. We lost one plot to the dry conditions but our biggest plot is blazing with buck forge oats and radishes. Maybe we can get lucky and have a hot doe using that plot. Probably a little early for that but wishful thinking boys, wishful thinking. Sure would like to run a VAP through a giant with my {#emotions_dlg.mathews_monster_red} this year!!!!!

Welp, not the way i planned on getting a buck on the groud today.. Around first light this morning i had a coyote come in 60yards out. knew my hunt was over for the morning.. Ended up losing sight of it, half hour later i see it come back with a leg or a stick in its mouth? So an hour later i got down and went to check out where i thought the coyote was. ended up finding a massive deer bedding area in some very tall grass on the edge of one of my fields with runs and shoots leading to it and then this guy off to the side… what a waste, would have been a nice up and coming buck on my farm in the years to follow. Went back and got the backhoe dug a hole and buried it leaving just fresh soil and not disturbing the bedding area to much. hopefully eliminating all the traces of it to keep the coyotes away and get the deer back there. hopefully.

I’m back fellas, came home with an empty roof. Had two shooters hanging around the property for a week. Still moving at night, I should be there this week not last. I did have a run in with the biggest buck I have ever seen in my 30 years sitting on stand. Which we never had on any of the trail cams? 45 yards out with a fork in between us. He’s looking at the fork, the fork looking at him. I move at all and I am busted. I can not believe he didn’t see my chest pounded!! Thought I was going to have an anxiety attack on top of a panic attack in my tree!!!

Sorry to say my bow season has ended and sadly to say I have drawn a blank.  Good luck to those still hunting.
