On my way. I will be in Wisconsin this afternoon. Tomorrow morning will be siting in my stand. Looks like the weather is changing. EXCELLENT.Good luck Steve. Jesse – you hunting your opener tomorrow? Good luck if so. Led0321 any luck getting a place to hunt?
i did get some kills a couple days ago but not to happy about it. A sow and 3 cubs jumped out on the highway in front of me in northern Wisconsin. I hit the brakes but had no where to go. I missed the sow but couldn’t help hitting all 3 cubs. I’ve never hit a deer with the car and then I wind up hitting 3 bear cubs!?! The good news is that I kept control of the vehicle and no people got hurt. Had my 6 yr old daughter with me so it could have been a lot worse. We’ll I didn’t get to hunt the frist 2 days but I closed the deal on a fat doe yesterday afternoon 10-17-13 now I just have to remeber how to turn it in to get our points. Good luck to everybody on your next hunt.Outstanding Jessee! Way to get us on the board. Got a pic or story for us? Here’s a quote from the rules to help you get us those points:
To submit an entry a participant must include…
- your screen name
- the number of tines that are longer than 1 inch (main beam counts), if applicable.
- a photo of himself/herself with the deer. photo must be of entire deer as to make sure no mounts are entered
- photo(s) that all scorable tines can be seen in. If 1 inch tine is questionable supply a photo with a measurement against the tine for verification.
- a legible photo of legal properly filled out tag unless your state doesn’t use them. In that case, documentation (or a link to) stating such.
E-mail all the required info to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll verify everything is in order and update your team with the earned points. Don’t forget to include your forum name and the team you’re on as I may not be able to figure that out from your e-mail address.I have a photo I can email you and you could post if you would like the only internet I have is my phone and I can’t never get it to post a pic on here But I’ll try and get some details of the hunt on here soon and thank for the contest info.I was in a ground blind in a 20 acre tall grass field this was a nose to nose hunt I shot her at like 5 yards needless to say it was heart pumping hunt it was greatNice, fat doe! Sounds like you had a great hunt. Love that license plate!
i can send the photo in for you The only other bit of information I need is the tag info. Does Alabama not require a tag?I finnanly got it all turned in we should have some points now.I concluded my first hunt in Wisconsin. First day of hunting, actually the first hour, I could have tagged a doe. I did not feel it was big enough, generally I like to get mature does and not the young ones. Anyway I should have probably took it. It was less than 15 yards broadside in front of one of my tree stands. Saw about 50 deer most were too far or bad angles. Saw lots of bucks, all small, not mature. Unfortunately, that first doe was my only sure bet at a doe. Actually never even shot my bow. How disappointing. Last day of hunting I had another doe that I was sure was going to come into my stand but when it was 25 yards out it just turned around and ran up hill? There was no way that thing saw me, it was acting strange when it came in but I really though I would have that one. All it had to do was walk in front of my stand. Next hunt will be in two weeks. I generally hunt for bucks during that week. Since I did not get my doe I am going to go for my buck first and then does later…….. Hopefully I will see some better bucks during this second trip. All I saw were 1-1/2 year old bucks. I think the big boys are still running around at night.I did have a doe and a fawn look like they were coming around my pond and certainly come over to my stand but before they could do that a buck came running out of the woods and chased the doe and fawn back into the woods. I was rather surprised by that but it looks like the younger bucks may be starting to seek the does. She was not receptive to him at that point.
Anyway it was a fun time. I always like sitting in the woods. Looking forward to my next trip.Sounds similar to what I’m hearing from other guys in buffalo county. Things will start to heat up soon. I will hunt for 10 days starting on Nov 4 th. Can’t wait.
Location: WisconsinWell done Jesse. Somebody had to break the ice. I have spent the first month of the season being a mentor for my 10 year old son. I will start hunting for myself this weekend and I hope to be able to get some points for the team sometime soon. You guys that hunt up north shouldnt be to far from big buck running everywhere I hope y’all have a good season I’m still about 2 months away from the rut here in my area.
