Today is the last day to hunt in Wisconsin and Jan 31 is the last day in Alabama. Guys let me know how you are doing and if you have any more hunts?Well guys I gave it one last try today with no luck. I have been unable to hunt due to a family medical emergency lately but finally got out the last 2 days. the weather was brutal. 10 below zero when I was hunting today. And the snow is well over your knees on the walk in. I actually enjoyed the hunt and think I could have had some success if I had some more time. I’m sorry I was unable to help. I’m not sure if I’ll get some time to hunt in Mississippi or not in January. The family emergency has kept me away from work and the rest of my family quite a bit. I’ll see how it goes and let you know. Sorry guys.Jim,
I’m glad you had a couple more changes to hunt this year. It is very hard to hit the woods in the late season up there in Wisconsin. Hopefully you didn’t get too cold out there in the woods. I certainly hope your father is doing better. I had lots of fun this fall talking with you and the other guys on this link. It looks like things have really cooled down for the other groups so when Jessee puts in his last 3 point buck we should have the lead.
God bless you and your family and I certainly hope he is getting better. We will talk again my friend.
SteveThanks for the kind words Steve. It has been fun and we still got a chance to win this thing. Wish I could have contributed. Thought I was going to have a lot of time to hunt this year, but sometimes things happen. There’s always next year for me. Who knows, maybe I’ll make it to Mississippi yet?!?Hey guys I’m still hunting daily so I hope I can get a bigger buck I’m still trying it’s been hot and raining a lot but the bucks are moveing good just looking for a bigger one so keep your fingers crossed.Good Luck Jessee! Keep in mind you can always put your 3 pointer in and “upgrade” to a bigger buck one time during this contest. Whatever you do, make sure its in by January 31st. Go get em!
Location: WisconsinGood luck Jesse. I’m hoping you good season becomes even better!steves 2012
Here is a buck I shot in the previous year on my farm up in Buffalo County. Thought you might be interested. I had this one mounted because it is so unique.
Joined: 4/23/2008Add that buck and put us in the lead! The buck was from 2012.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using TapatalkNice buck Steve. Was the other side broke off or just a deformation?Jim,
It looked like the damage occurred while the rack was forming. He did not have any injuries to his legs. Sometimes when they have a major injury the rack will not form properly on the opposite site. This guy did not appear to have any leg injuries so I believe the damage occurred during the formation of the rack probably back early as the antlers were first coming out of his head. I’m not sure if you noticed from the video but he has a rather large knot that drops down just behind his right eye along with a larger oversized split brow tine. He has a total of 12 points but they are rather hard to see from the video as it is very dark at the time. Actually when I shot him it was getting rather dark. I saw the good side but the other side was not as visible. I did know something didn’t look quite right but not to the extent that it was. Still I like the character. Double lunged him. He didn’t even go 30 yards before he crashed. We’ll guys I missed a real nice 8 pointer Sunday morning him and a smaller buck we’re chasing a doe so that’s a good sign. I’ll keep checking in on here and keep y’all up to date.Jessee
Too bad. That sounds like it would have been a real nice one. Just remember you can still turn in your 3 point buck before the end if you do not get something better. Keep us informed. I think we are all checking in to see what you are up to. Good luck.Oh did I mention I was more than pleased to arrow this 8/7 pointer Monday morning at 10 yards he has a broken main beam so I don’t know if I should say 7 or 8 points. It has been a real good season for me and I still have 1 buck left on my license maybe I can fill that to before the season ends.
