Location: alabamaGreat buck and story I’m glad it all worked out for you congrats
Maybe now I can put down a buck and help out the teamOutstanding Steve! Congrats! You’ve given me added incentive now that we’re so close to the lead! Sure hope we can get led0321 to input his kills. I will be headed up to northwestern wisconsin on Monday for a couple of weeks. I will brave the cold and try hard to get us some more points. It’s ‘brown it’s down’ big country so I will shot the first buck and/or doe that comes by. Go team 5!Jim,
Yes. Hopefully led0321 will come back on and register his deer. We may need to message him as I do not think he comes on here much.
I think we have a good opportunity if you can get a buck and a doe but I’m sure it will be hard with the weather up there at this time. I would find a good food source to hunt especially when it gets really cold. Hope you have an opportunity to hunt more.
Go get your buck. I’m not that familiar with Alabama but I looked up the deer population down there and it looks like you have quite a large deer population. Hopefully you will get another couple hunts in to get your buck?
As for me, I think I am done for the year. I cannot get my wife to allow another trip up to Wisconsin and I really do not have anywhere that I can hunt down here besides we have a very small population of deer down here so I would be lucky to even see a deer in AZ.Have any of you heard from LED0321? If he gets his points in we will be at 70 points. We still have a chance at this guys.
Joined: 4/23/2008Hey guys, I am around. I have been slammed at work since my Vacation ended. I just emailed my pics in to Vince a second ago.
Joined: 4/23/2008Congrats on all the kills by the way, it was a slower year for me in Northern VA, lack of acorns killed me and the rut was a week later than it had been the previous two years here. I am officially a moon junkie now LOL
I have killed 5 does and 1 buck this fall and still have some hunting left before the season ends, bucks are starting to lose their antlers here and there. The cold weather this week should have the deer up and moving.Wow. If 6 deer is a slow year for you those deer are in trouble on a good year! Congrats on all the deer. I’m having a tough time in northern wisconsin. About 30 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are not plowed where I’ve hunted some so I’m looking for a new spot. Having a tough time walking in that snow!Jim,
Nice to hear from you. Sorry to hear about the difficulties with hunting this year. I too feel that the year was a tough one. I made three trips to Wisconsin for hunting trips. I had some real difficulties that I have not had before with getting mature bucks to come by me. Even though I shot that 8 point this year, I do not feel that was a mature buck. He had a nice rack and large G2′s but not the mass that I generally look for. Actually I only saw one with mass this year which is strange for Buffalo County. Generally I have several buck that I get pictures of during the year……but not this year.
I did talk with my Uncle today and he said the snow is not too bad up there now. About 6 inches is what he has on the farm…. which is close to where you have hunted earlier this year. He even is having a warming spell at this time, +30 degrees. I’m not sure how long that will last but he is saying it is real nice now.
H0pe the both of you get some more chances this year. Got to get some of that good venison in the freezer!!!!!!
Look at the score board. We are now one (1) point out of first place. Let me know how each of you are doing and if you still have additional hunts scheduled?
SteveSteve – thanks for the good words. I wish I could get down to Buffalo county but I’m stuck up in Douglas county helping out with my dads health issues. I haven’t gone hunting in a few days due to some more family visiting. I will get back out there and hunt right up til the Wisconsin season ends on January 5th. The weather warmed up to the low 30′s yesterday which settled the snow quite a bit. I did find a new spot to hunt and put on a corn pile a few days ago. With the snow the way it is, if the deer find the corn they will be coming back. Keep your fingers crossed!Jim,
If there are deer at that location they WILL find the corn. Any time I put corn out the deer will generally eat it up in one day. It is funny because the minute you put the corn on the ground the deer will eat it. But if the corn is still standing in the fields they are less likely to eat the corn. We generally have to nock the corn over and that will get the deer eating it up. Of coarse if they are really hungry they will take it anyway they can get it.
Were you still planning on your trip down south to hunt with one of your friends?
How are you doing and are you still hunting?
Location: alabamaHello guys I’ve killed 2 does and a 3 pointer but I’ve still got the rut coming so hopefully the big bucks start moving around right now it’s just the little ones running around so maybe by the seasons end on jan 31 I can get us some more points
