Birdx33 / Kenny here. I will be hunting in Kentucky, right know I have 4 farms to hunt may end up with a couple more.
I’ve been scouting for 3 weeks now and the birds are still bunched up. Our season comes in April 12th but the first weekend I will be trying to get my wife her first bird but I will be packing the bow also.
Ouch! Take care of her.
I went Sunday and had a gobbler crossing the edge of the field along the river coming to me.
He got to about 40 yards and I turned on the camera he went a few more yards and started running towards me and I’m thinking here we go!
I thought he was going to attack my jake decoy but he ran right pass me and few across the creek behind me.
Then I heard some people in a boat floating the river so I guess they scared him off. Just my luck I never see anyone on the river there except when we’re duck hunting it.
I’m going to hit it again Friday afternoon.
This has been by far the hardest turkey season I’ve ever hunted.
I’m just not seeing the birds and there’s usually birds all over these fields. I did manage to bring in a double bearded Tom for my wife that she connected on a couple weeks ago for her first turkey. That one cost me $500 but I’m sure the taxidermist was happy.
I roosted one bird last night and I’m going to try to roost him again tonight for a Saturday morning hunt.
Season goes out Sunday.
