Chris from NY here, season doesn’t start till may 1 but I’m ready to go! The winter was the worst I have seen around here in a very long time so I was worried how much winter kill we would have but I have been seeing plenty  of birds so far so we should be good.

Season doesn’t start for me until May 5th, but I have the rest of the month to get it done. Going to attempt a little “out-of-the-blind” hunting this spring. Not sure how it’s going to go, but it’s time for me to switch things up a little. I’m sure I’ll still have some blind time as well.

Hasn’t even felt like spring up here in Michigan yet….actually had some new snow on the ground yesterday. Birds are still in large flocks…..that is until Monday, when our first season starts. After that is when I’ll start getting more serious about my scouting.

Anyone having any luck?  Had a group of 3 jakes in the decoys last Saturday but gave them a pass.  1 tried to breed my DSD Leading hen.  Going back after them tomorrow morning here in Ohio and then headed to Nebraska for a week.  Wish me luck!

Monday was my first day hunting and my buddy and I had some decent action early. He was up to bat first, and in short order dumped a 25 lb, 1.25″ spurred beast at 8:15 am. Had slower action the rest of the time we were out…..had a few good ones in the field after it started raining, but as soon as it stopped they went right back to the woods. They wanted nothing to do with the calls, and could not see the dekes from where they were. I did have a jake come in and climb on top of my DSD hen also…..funny stuff for sure! I hunt all month, so lots of time left and plenty of birds to mess around with. Good luck guys!

Well, no luck in Nebraska, but I was able to stick a Jake here in Ohio before heading out there.  I still need to load the pics from my camera and then I’ll post some.  Ended up getting the shot on 5 different camera angles so when I finally get around to editing it, it should make for a great video!

Congrats Brett! You still out after a longbeard?

I was able to tag out this past Thursday….only my fourth sit of the season. Selfilmed the whole thing and took him with the Bullhead, even though it turned out to be a low neck shot instead of his head. Going to take me a little bit to get the video put together, but I’ll post it up once its done.
