Joined: 1/28/2010Awesome deer man! Sometimes its just ment to be! Sorry guys I havent been on in a while, but something was up with my login, kepts telling me I was typing it in wrong and locked me out. Decided to try again today and idk what I did different but it worked! I got this hole week off from work, Hopefully today I get a birthday buck! Weather was nice an cool in the morning but its warming up now. Couple days here it will be in the low 30s! I think the morning hunts are were its at!
Here’s one that I’m going to be after mid Sept. He’s a regular on my farm and shows up nearly every day. Had a lot of fun watching him browsing in my yard yesterday evening.
Well…..i got the buck i was after today. More laterGreat job, Blazin.
I have been putting in the hours in MB and will hunt Sat/Sun/Mon all-day coming up. Hope to get something done. Been slow, haven’t laid eyes on a shooter in Manitoba. Weather has cooled here – we should see rut action soon. Have my fingers crossed for this weekend.Awesome deer. I think you just vaulted us to a tie for 3rd, if I can count.
Joined: 1/28/2010wow man nice job! Well bad news bears guys, the big 8 that we seen early season just bit the dust last night, one of the other guys got him, nice deer for are area. An to think he was bedding down only 35-45 yards from were we park, and we would walk by him everyday, guess couple guys out here said they have seen him come out of the thicket right there. check him out.Close call on a short tined mature ten point on Saturday am 7:10 (came in about 10 min after I rattled). I was at full draw, he was walking calmly to my 23 yard opening, grunted for him to stop and he kept moving, grunted a second time and he came out of his skin – ran through the bush sixty yards and walked off. Definitelty a bummer – I am wondering if I should start doing a squirrel squeak sound instead a deer grunt in the future. I have been replaying it over in my mind – oh well, that is deer hunting. He was shot by a muzzleloader hunter at noon that day.
Sunday sat all day, saw a spiker and a forkhorn buck and that was it. I have a good property to hunt from the 16th-24th close by my home so I will try to get something done in that stretch.Interesting hunt.
Sorry for the outcome…..just wasn’t meant to be.
Its crazy that the deer would come un-glued from such a natural sound.
Good luck next week.More tough luck. Skunked Saturday, and hunted this morning in the snow on the front edge of a cold front. Had two close calls this morning – 2.5 year old 8pt and a better 10 point. Drew on both but branches, quartering to, and walking deer killed me. On a good note – did not take a bad shot I would have to regret. No points though – only 4 opportunities to sit for me left. Tough season so far.Not taking the ‘iffy’ shot…..sounds like the right thing to do given the circumstances.
Most archers would do the wrong thing and later regret the outcome!
Enjoy the last 4 hunts bud.
