    Hunted Thu pm, saw nothing.
    Hunted yesterday pm & saw 3 does and a small buck.  One of the does made a fatal mistake & I tagged her at 8 yards.
    Five more points for the team! I will take a pic & send in info to Vince at lunch today. Hunting all day today – no deer sightings yet.

    Here’s a pic of my doe.  She’d been hanging in a cooler box for a day, so a little stiff in the pic.
    All info was emailed to Vince, so 5 more points on the way! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    She and another doe came by and went to exit my hunting area at the Army base through a permanently open gate, but while the other one exited this one got spooky and stayed in the area.  It didn’t like seeing my truck parked outside the gate and ran back and forth nearby until finally stopping at 8 yards from me and looked away.  That was all I needed – so within about 5 seconds I drew, put the pin on her, and sent the arrow on its way.  She bolted in a flat out run and I heard her crash.  She was a large mature doe too, so an added bonus. Feels good to finally get one down!

    Man thast a sweet deal Arne – walked right into your lap – Love short drags…  Well looks like we are getting the does out of thge way. It’s kinda slow here in VA due to heat so deer movement is slow and late so nothing new or exciting to report. Im getting crowded in my chosen area so may just walk away from it and fing a new and maybe fone where all the others are pushing the deer… GOOD LUCK - KILL UM!!!

    Well tomorrow we can shoot bucks. Had 5 bucks under me a bit to late last night (88deg yesterday) - 2 nice ones but not monsters. An 11pt and an 8pt. Ill take the 11pt and hope to late in first week then I trophy hunt :)   The first few days ill be hunting bears. Have about 5 coming in to corn and as long as farmer does not cut it I should get one. Had same last year but when corn was cut bears changed and I only saw 1 small one.  The area I hunt bears has some great deer as well but unless property owner lets me I cant shoot bucks. He hates bears!

    Well I got it done on a Bear. Was fortunate to harvest a GIANT VA BEAR (600lb) which is good news on many levels – one being I finely got a quality bear and two now I can focus on Bucks.  I’ll post a pic or two here and probably a story in BOW HUNTING section tomorrow.

    Here is my #1 target. This is the buck that came in at 30y and turned into the swamp. Me and a friend are trying for him on both sides of the swamp crossing. He on one side me on the other Im worried about that 2nd pic as thats when I believe he saw the red glow of the cam and freaked. Hope he comes back as this is my # 1 stand site. Hard to score but Im thinking high 150′s.

    ok bowforum here ‘s the story buddy. left Lamar around 5:30 a.m. had to drive about a 40 mile drive’ climbed into my old reliable stand had3 doe’s come in, they finally they left and it wasn’t 2 minutes here he came walking up the edge of the timber. I put a perfect shot on him, firt time I got full video of killing a buck solo camming it, lots of doe’s but first buck, always messed up getting cam on recordbut with my remote switchworked great. My son-in-law, Brian Hollands is on mathews solo cam dominant bucks and thinks my footage is going to be a runner to make the show. I hope,I took the time to do a prehunt in the tree great footage of smacking the buck and a great post footage. will get pics put on as soon as my computer quts giving me fits

    A big congrats to BOW4UM on the monster black bear! And another big congrats to tpaynes2 on the great looking buck!

    Hunted Fri & Sat afternoons and headed out this afternoon also.  Haven’t been seeing hardly any deer at all – hope that changes soon.
    Columbus Day is a lucky day for me and my hunting buddies, as I killed my biggest buck in 2010 that day and a buddy killed a P&Y 8 pointer that day in 2009.
    Hope it turns out to be another lucky Columbus day today too!

    tpaynes2 – Sweet glad you dropped one. Love KS. That’s awesome to have it filmed and possibly aired. Tough to do that solo. I’ll be looking for it.

    Well last night was fun. I had 3 small bucks around my stand the entire sit and one bedded 10’ from my tree. About 5:00 I saw a decent buck jump the creek and started heading towards me. I know this buck as he is target # 1 for this property. He hung up 70y away and the small buck under me saw him and went to him. They sparred for a short bit then the small buck groomed him up and they started my way! At 18y the buck offered me a great shot and I sent the SPIT his way and POOOP! Not the sound I wanted. He hunched over and went about 40y and started walking to a thicket. I figured I gut shot him and was disappointed. I was planning on getting down when the other bucks dispersed thinking ill come back in the am. I txt my friends who were giving me all kinds of grief.  15 min later a fox came in and was circling the area I’m thinking smelling the gut trail… The fox then went into the thicket and I’m thinking he was going to jump the deer. Well about 10 min later he came out of there with a deer tail in his mouth so I celebrated and went and got him. When I got to him I found a perfect shot. I later went and got my arrow which told the story as well as it was covered and what a blood trail – LOVE SPITS! He is not a stud but just a good deer with 12 pts. I had posted a pic of this deer earlier. 12pts for team 3!!! Oh and you can bet I burnt up the txt back to my friends who were giving me heck!!!

    Ill send info to Vince.
