Got out opening day, Friday, and Saturday.  Friday I saw 2 bucks, neither were shooters.  Had one of them – a ~ 2 year old 7 point – at 20 yards but passed.
Saturday I saw 2 spindly 1 year old bucks and a doe with 2 fawns.  Had the doe and fawns in range, drew on the doe, but couldn’t get a clear shot.  Going to try again the end of the week and weekend.  Want to get a doe down soon to put some points on the board.

If anyone has questions on the signature let me know.  It may be hard to see, but the middle pictures are of 5 does in the back of my truck and of a buck and 2 does on the ground.

Hunted Thu & Fri so far this week, and plan to also get out this afternoon.  Passed on the same 7 point buck as last week.  A buddy hunting with me shot a 150″ 9 point that also had two sticker points.  There’s still a crazy looking narrow/tall racked buck in that area that is definitely a shooter.  Here’s a pic of the 9 point – unfortunately no points for us – but it does show the quality of the bigger bucks where I hunt at the Army base.  It’s right front leg must’ve been hit by a car at some point, as it was “S” shaped but fully healed.

Hey I too hunt SE KS in the flint hills area. Been doing it for 5 years. Have properties in Elk Co. (Beaumont and Howerd). Have approx 1550 acres now and working on 4000. I will be there on Oct 30 thru Nov 9. I was out a couple weeks ago setting stands on a new section and it all look good compared to last few dry years. Just hope the deer are back as well cause last year was tough.  How about you?

    Good luck – Kill um!!!

I pretty well just hunt Bourbon county in s.e.Kansas, Iam fortunate to be able to hunt some private property around 40 miles from my home , I only live around 20 miles from the state line. this will be my 8th season to hunt it. I have taken a buck off that property the past seven seasons, six out of the same tree. EHD did hit very hard down around this erea  last year but the herd seems to be very healthy this season.went over there last night after work put in a lonewolf and sat a trail cam up

Hey guys – Well I have been hunting and killed a couple does so far (2-more to go) and have been on reconnaissance but think I have pressured my bucks to much. No more pics of any good ones and everything else is at night. It’s been hot and a rising full moon. I have been scouting and setting areas like crazy and definitely found their bedding area and set a stand there I just hope I did not push too hard cause I did cut an access trail into it so I can get in there quietly…  I have 5 sets in VA on this new property and hopes in killing a wall hanger on it and my normal stuff that is full of small bucks… It’s a long season ahead of me and Oct 5 is our buck season. I think I’m going to focus on my own hunting a bit this year and hope karma doesn’t bite me as I usually help a lot of guys… The new property is hunted by a few guys and I want to score on one on it quickly. Too many good spots – what a problem to have.

KS is looking good BUT that’s a new property as well. Some decent pics coming to me on our old property that we have guests hunting this year so should be great for them.

Had a great hunt last night. Had a small 120″ 8pt I have pics of come in to my stand to my right about 50-60y away and when he passed I grunted to him just playing and he stopped looked then went into the brush. I watched for a while then grunted again with no response so thought he was gone. I then looked around the tree behind me and a monster 10 was coming right at me. He was old and huge about 200lbs with a 21″ spread with 10″ points and dark. He was beautiful and big I’m thinking high 150′s maybe 160”. He was 30y away and coming straight to me – he had no clue I was there. Suddenly he turned 90-degrees and went towards the swamp so when he got to the edge I grunted at him with no response so I moved from one side of tree to the other and that dang old 8pt had crept in under me and saw me move and blew then took off out of there which caught the big ones attention. He did not bolt but just kept on his path into the swamp out of my life (for now anyway :) ). I saw quite a few deer taking the same path in the swamp so on Sat I’m setting up in a big pine tree with a small shooting lane to that trail in the swamp. It is so cool to see a quality buck! I’m fortunate to see a lot of bucks and when like this one comes thru a set of mine I’m excited about it thinking I made a good choice… Anyway I hope either me or my hunting partner pop him.

Hope you all are having some great hunts as well!

Sounds great!  Hope you tag him soon.
I’m hunting again tomorrow afternoon, Saturday all day, and maybe Friday afternoon too.  Hope to at least get a doe in range.

    Hey guys,

sounds like a couple of you are into some action.  Our Ohio bow season opener is this coming weekend, but I’ll be celebrating my grandson’s first birthday instead of sitting a stand.  Have hung numerous stands and ground blinds in SE Ohio.  Great sign.  Found lots of rubs, but no scraping action as yet.  Will be hunting NW Ohio early, then down to SE Ohio for the first 2 weeks of November.  The State of Ohio put in a new black powder season for does on October 12-13.  Most of us bowhunters are furious about that!  Nothing like announcing to the deer herd that they’re being hunted!!  We’ll see how that goes; hopefully, things will settle down by the rut.

Best wishes to you guys — hope you kill some big ‘uns!

went to Ks. this morning hunted a few hours, had two mature doe’s at 12 yds opted to pass them even though Kansas gave us out of staters a free antlerless tag this year. I would have shot if I hadn’t already tagged a doe in Mo. pulled my sd card had lots of deer but no bucks, like I said it never starts getting good there till aroumd halloween, still holding on to my buck tag in Mo. as well ,.good luck team
