    I shot an 8 this evening. I still have another buck tag good until Jan 15th. I have been working a hectic schedule so felt I better get one down just in case later doesn’t happen. I am going to try to get a doe in the morning. I can still take 5 does beside the buck. I couldn’t get the picture to upload here, but did send it to Vince. Good luck everyone.

    Congrats :thumbup

    Congrats to those who have put some brown down! =D/>” title=”Applause” />  <!-- s:thumbup --><img src=

    I have been away from bow hunting for a couple of weekends due to some pheasant hunting trips (both were a blast, even though not that productive) but now I’m ready to get back at it. Hope to get out Friday afternoon and sometime over the weekend too. [-o|

    The bad news I must report to the team is that my trip I was planning to a great state a few states to the south of Nebraska has fallen through due to difficulties on their end. We’re planning to reschedule for next year but I’m still bummed about not being able to go this season. :cry:

    Congrats Brett, beautiful deer! You’re like a good clean-up hitter for us, driving in all kinds of runs! :D

    I, on the other hand, have been striking out all season. Or to better further the analogy, I haven’t even seen any pitches to swing at!

    Went out to my favorite spot Saturday. Walking in I knew things might be bleak that day. Where I usually see a fair amount of sign on the way in, this time I saw nothing. No tracks, no rubs, no scrapes – nada! Saturday was the last day of rifle season and surprisingly, or maybe not surprisingly, I heard very VERY few shots that evening. Just a couple here and there off in the far distance.

    Like some other states, Nebraska has been hit very hard by EHD this year. We knew it coming out of the summer but now that bow season has been going a couple of months and with rifle season just completed, we’re starting to more fully realize the effects of the disease. I’ve heard various estimates that Nebraska may have lost as much as 50% of it’s herd population. From what I’ve seen, and from what I’ve heard from hunters and landowners, I believe it.

    I did get a bit of good news the other day though: A friend of mine told me that he wants me to hunt with him and a couple of other guys on a piece of property only about 30 minutes away from my house. All I have to do is check with the landowner to formally get permission but my friend indicated that shouldn’t be a problem. I don’t know what this will mean for this year, but it sure makes me look forward to next season already!

    Our season doesn’t end until December 31st so I’m not giving up! :D [=}=]
