Location: OhioHello everyone,
Things have been pretty quiet lately. I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Is everyone still out hunting?Z-7 65# 30"Still after them. Gun seasons in IL limit the bow sessions. Im getting out with the Muzzloader this weekend.
Joined: 4/23/2008I am around, I only get to hunt Saturday’s now. No Sunday hunting here in VaI’m still around too guys. Since I can only shoot one deer in MN, I am being picky.
I know I will get one of the two I am after (pics in earlier thread). I am still getting them on camera often and seeing them on the hoof. I have had a few marginal shot opportunities but decided to not let the arrow fly.
Soon…I am still checking posts regularly, just not posting much. I have been on a little break for a bit. My Texas trip fell through, so I am now waiting for the PA extended season to start the day after Christmas. I just switched sights from a Spot Hogg Real Deal to a Axcel Armortech HD 5 pin. So far, I think I made a good choice. Just about down with the finishing touches to resighting it in. I also will be getting a new Monster Chill in all camo!!! Hope to be back out soon enough and maybe put up some more points for us!!! Good luck to everybody else who is still hunting.[https://0347f78499dbffa2d06c-6b5498c811253e5f302167b9d7af9fdc.ssl.cf2.rackcdn]
When’s everyone bow season start? Mine starts September 15th here in Minnesota.
Below are a few pics of a pair a bucks I get on cam every nearly every day. The pics were from mid-July so they should be finished off now and ready to shed their velvet at the end of this week. I haven’t made it back to my farm to check the computer the images are sent to in over a month. Next weekend i will head back to my farm and can’t wait to see the results.
Finally – I smoked one of two deer I was after all fall (the one to the right in first pic). He’s only a 9 pointer but for whatever reason, was high on my hit list this year especially after I got another pic of him from my trail camera and found he had a sticker coming out back of his rack on the left side.
Really hope the one to the left makes it through the winter and visits me next year…he should be a beaty
More later…I’ll post of some pics and share the story…works been nutsWay to go BLAZIN! That will certainly move us closer to the top of the leader board.[https://0347f78499dbffa2d06c-6b5498c811253e5f302167b9d7af9fdc.ssl.cf2.rackcdn]
Location: OhioWe’re in a solid third and still well within striking distance. Nice work everyone! I am glad everyone is having such a good year.Z-7 65# 30"Thanks Guys!
Lonewolf, are you still hunting?
Just kidding bud!
It’s been a great season and I’m exhausted. Unfortunately, I can only shoot one deer in MN so my season is over unless I make a quick trip to Wisconsin or something. I just don’t have much connections for out of state hunts…

Hey guys….. Our season ended on December 15th…… I had rough fall season with my back issues….. The early season was looking promising… Had the opportunity to be a mentor and passed on a doe to let a youngster bag his first with a bow.
After a plane trip to see an orthopedic surgeon the call was made to hang the bow up for the next several months.
Sorry Guys …. I enjoyed watching the rest of the team rack up some points with some beautful animals
Not being out in the woods for most of the season was not my wish, thats for sureOk…here’s the story:
Around 9:10am the other week, he was walking on a path that would put himself directly down wind and behind me. The next pic is what it would have looked like (NOT the SAME DEER, pic taken earlier in the season)
I was up about 20 feet in my stand and the ground dropped off at least another 10-15 ft to the water level. During the draw, he caught me half way back….I stopped for a couple seconds and realized that I couldn’t hold at half draw too much longer so I finished drawing while he was starring my way. He knew something was not right. He turned 180 degrees took a few steps like he was going to run away, but turned around and stepped ahead just into my shooting lane.
Using my Monster at 72lbs, I let the Quest Stinger PTP 300 spine arrow tipped with the 1.5″ German Kinetic 125XL fly. Heard a LOUD THWACKKK. He ran about 45 yards and fell over. Perfect double lung…high entry and low exit.
The worst part of a great situation….I had a sweet GOPRO camera all ready to record but I forgot to hit the remote button to start recording since I had such little time to react.
I think he is an older deer since many other pics show a big saggy belly and droopy back. I expect to have the jawbone aged so maybe that will help guess his age better. I like the sticker coming out back of his left side. Closest thing I’ve got to a drop tine! Someday…
