Nice Job Hunt!!!
I spent close to 10 days straight in my stand, I hunted harder then ever before. couldn’t get it done. Passed on a few just decent bucks. I had a #1 deer “Teddy” the Ten point on my cams. Saw Teddy four nights in a row. just couldn’t close the distance. I’m really disappointed. I also really enjoyed my time out there. Close to God. I have not given up yet. We’ll see!!
Nice job on your bucks guys!
hey guys. I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Is everyone still out hunting?
Yea, lil bit. Two more days of gun season here. I’ve been out a couple evenings with the bow, killed at doe on Thanksgiving evening. Have also taken the kids out several times with the rifle. My son missed a buck Tuesday evening with my dad. Ready to get these rifles out of the woods, give it a week or two to cool down, keep the cams running and hopefully find one of the good ones to get on in late bow…..if any are left. Its a coin toss here, and TOUGH in the late season. I’ve never scored on a buck in late season with a bow, but theres always a first time for everything!
Submitted my entry finally guys. It was a bit of a slow season for me this year, haven’t gotten a buck here around home this year YET…..but late season is tough. Did pass on one opportunity at a nice 3.5 year old 9pt on Oct 30th. 3.5 year olds go on our hit list, and he was on it. But, 15 minutes before he walked into range I seen the biggest buck we had on our list chasing a doe. I just couldn’t do it knowing he was around with a hot doe. He eventually chased the doe back by later in the morning at 50 yards…..so close! I don’t regret not shooting that 9pt at all, and I believe he very well may have survived gun season so he will be a good 4.5 next year. Had trail cam pics of him on Thursday and gun season closed Saturday. As for the big 10pt, I haven’t heard of anyone getting him either. I had him right at 140″ this year, so he could be a REAL giant next year! However, the season wasn’t a total bust, did close the deal in Illinois on this decent 9pt. He’s a giant by the standards here at the house, but just a nice average 3.5 year old for Illinois. I was very happy with him.
