Good job Ike. It’s 3 days into our season and not looking good. Humid, high 80′s, east winds. Have the next 4 days off so I’ll be hitting it hard. I’ve only been going in the afternoons, so maybe some morning sits will turn things around

Knocked down a nice nanny Friday night at dusk.

Drew on her first time as she came in with a yearling. She busted me about 10yrds and blew out of there, unfortunately the yearling came right under my stand and stopped. Big doe sat about 100yds away blowing every 30secs to get the other one back and it just sat under me for about 10 mins. I sat tight and lo and behold big nanny came RIGHT back and walked broadside at 15yrds…unleashed the arrow and WHACK, smoked a tree right in front of her and watched my Nockturnal exloded. D’oh!

Thought it was done, she ran about 10 ft to the right and stopped. i was shaking like a leaf and had my quiver on footrest of stand. So I sat and fumbled around, noisily grabbed another arrow, nocked it, stood up and shuffled to the side. She then came BACK and walked right to teh same opening for the 3rd time and I absolutely smoked her. Rage thru the heart, she ran 10ft and spun in a circle and just dumped over.

Unfortunately it was about 80 degrees so I had to hustle to clean her up. Got her plucked out and in the fridge and spent yesterday processing the meat, full freezer once again! time for some antlers now that the skunk is off:) That’s only my 2nd deer with the bow, pretty pumped. Only my second trip into the woods this year so i’m pretty happy.

yeah, it was pretty intense, had me shaking like a leaf. Say what you want about Rage’s, but I got some pretty serious penetration on that sapling;) Expensive miss.

Good news, bad news guys. Killed a doe this evening. Forgot to take picture. No worries though, we get up to five does a season and seasons not over until Jan. 31. Shouldn’t be difficult to score another. Had a good buck coming in on a string yesterday. Fed to within range but was behind a tree. Instead of continuing towards me he turned and fed away. Never got a shot. Thinks are looking better than the first few days.

Well I was able to connect on a doe 2 weeks ago, as my luck would go the camera didn’t save the picture so I don’t have any evidence to submit. Last weekend I was able to get a glimpse of a decent 8pt , but he gave me the slip. It was my fault because if I went in the day before and trimmed some shooting lanes it would have been an easy 20 yd shot. This season has been so frustrating, I have been seeing more bucks then ever, but they always seem to give me the slip. I sat tonight and didn’t see anything. Hopefully next week I have some better luck.
