Joined: 3/15/2008Hey MoFish got a call from a friend that lives in Mariettta, complaining about the deer in their yard dining on their landscaping efforts. Thought about you being a former resident there. Guess where I”ll be right after work looking for a place to hang a stand!
Joined: 3/15/2008Hate to hear about the drought MoFish and IkeDogg are facing. For the last several years Ga. has been battling drought. This year the total opposite. In fact bit was raining again today so hard I postponed a trip to an outdoor 3D range for a little pre-season practice. There are areas where the soil is sandy and I have to inspect the trees I have stands in as some of the trees have fallen over because of the constant rain. If it ain’t one thing it’s another!Good luck on them, Hawk! I dont recall seeing a ton of deer in my area of GA but I was more into the fishing and not into bowhunting at the time…
On a happier note not related to drought issues, I sold some honey to a couple off of Craigslist not too far from my home; they have a 5 acre plot adjacent to a 900 acre Conservation Dept spread. They’ve got a TON of deer around and unfortuntely, already a crossbow hunter. however, he should be in and out pretty fast, so i’ve got dibs on 2nd place about 5 mins from my house! On top of that, my buddy has a 16 acre suburban spot that is overloaded and the owner wants as many deer whacked as possible.
Might have 2 close-by urban spots that should be a breeze if I can get in there.Team 19: Silent Assassins
Joined: 11/4/2009Good luck on the new spots MOfish. We did however get a little rain here hoping it was just enough to keep my turnip plots going until we get this rain that’s supposed comin close to opener. I’m thinking of switching up my usual and going out opener mourning. Temps are supposed to be cooler by then but historically my deer are a bit nocturnal and usual don’t move in the day mostly evenings. What do you guys think about that??Doing what we do best Bow hunting Whitetails. Joined: 5/20/2009Sorry I’ve been MIA since contest started. Trying to get my house packed up. Between that and work, its been a busy few months. Should have everything tied up by next week, then it will be nothing but a little work and 4 months of hunting. Did get a few stands up and hopefully a couple of cameras this afternoon. 25 days and I get kicked off.Reezen 6.5 66/29 Creed 72/29Great name guys!! Sorry, I was on vacation last week and I went back to college this week. Next weekend early bow kicks off here in NJ. I have a few spots scouted out. Hopefully they produce a few doe’s. I just planted my winter pea plots this week, hopefully they will bring in the big boys during the late season. Good luck guys. Hopefully I get a slickhead next weekend!!

Joined: 5/20/2009Crappy pic, but have this guy coming through twice a day. Just before daylight and right after dark. Hopefully a change in the weather will bring him in during daylight when season starts. 17 days and a wake up left
Reezen 6.5 66/29 Creed 72/29Hey guys!! Saturday started off NJ’s 2013′s bowhunting season here on the East coast. I hunted the morning and evening and had a shooter 8pt at 10 yds, but couldn’t shoot because NJ requires you kill a doe before shooting a buck. To make matters worse when I was getting out of my stand my haul line snapped sending my Mathews Drenalin 40ft to the ground. I have been sick to my stomach ever since, the cams are out of alignment and the timings off. None of the pro shop around here open till Tuesday. I’m praying for a quick fix, but I have a feeling I’m gonna need a new bow. This season isn’t starting off the way I hoped, but I’m praying to be back in the wood by this weekend even if I have to resort to taking my pop’s crossbow .NJbowhunter that’s too bad. Hey Call Mike at A&M archery in Lakewood he is the best Mathews mechanic around and he will be open Monday at noon. That’s a nice buck what zone are you in? I took a nice doe Sat night. Good luck this season. Thanks NJBowman! Congrats on the doe too!! I’m hunting state property in zone 25, but my buddy own a farm that has about 1ooo acres. I got him into hunting a few years ago, sometimes I go sit with him. He put in about four 1 acre food-plots this year so hopefully I get to sit with him a few times.ugh, sorry to hear about the bow NJ. that totally sucks, and sucks about the buck in front of ya! Go figure.
missed opening day yesterday due to a funeral out of town, but I will get out this weekend. my son’s soccer starts Saturday and he’s also got a game on Sunday. trying to figure out which game to miss. if i head out Friday I can hunt Fri night/sat morn and eve/sun morning versus just Sat night/Sun morning if i opt for plan b.
dont want to upset my boy by missing his first game either, so we’ll see.
ready for my first sit with the ‘new’ Z7. been shooting almost every evening when i can get my boy to put the Genesis down for a minute so I can fling some arrows too.Team 19: Silent AssassinsGreat news guy’s my bows all good to go. The cams were fine, my rest just got bumped around. I got that fixed and re-sighted it in today!!! I have a bunch of slick heads on the cam and I hope to get after them Friday night!!! Then Saturday hopefully I’ll see that 8pt again!! Good luck guys!!
