Killed him about 20 min before dark. He was the first deer I posted a picture of. It was 87 degrees when I walked in, about a half mile. Totin my bow, stand, long sleeve shirt, rubber boots, needless to say I was sweatin bad. I figured I would get winded so I tore a bunch of limbs off a cedar and wiped down good every 20-30 min. He showed up from dead down wind and got with in 25 yards but I couldn’t get a shot. He ate acorns and milled around for 15-20 min and then started a solid walk. He got in my lane and I had to bleet to get him to stop. He was 28 yards when he stopped and I put it on his shoulder and squeezed off. He ran about 40 yards and fell over. I woulda let him walk another year or two but somebody leased the cutover behind my house and they got a big ladder stand on the line facing my big hard woods. I knew what was gonna happen lol.

I’m hunting at our deer camp today thru Sunday. So far I have let 7 does and 4 bucks walk. I doubt I will shoot a doe here but we are seeing more than we thought we had so who knows. I’ve got several other places that is easy to get one and very over populated with does. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend.

{#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause} Way to go Andy, nice 8 point. Hey guys, I have been real busy and have not checked in much. I’m in the middle of buying a house, vacationing, job shift changes etc. I did however get to go hunting last week, and saw some nice bucks, but no clear shots. Passed on some skinny does too. It was 80+ degrees out and the bugs were terrible. Hopefully back to camp Weds/Thurs. Good luck and be safe.

Congrats on the doe. A few bucks were chasing does all around me and my buddy last weekend. About 3 weeks early for here.
