Dear Mathews Family –

We appreciate the support and feedback of this active online community, however, we will not be hosting a forum on the new site. Me too!  It makes me feel good to be on a team!  I am excited this year!  I saw a doe and a buck in my yard about 3 weeks ago eating some pears under my pear tree! Also I live very close to the Bankhead forest public land,  and wheeler national refuge is about 35 miles away.  I am retired,  so I can hunt through out the week when there are not many in the woods.  I will be glad when it gets colder here so the snakes go in and the deer start moving more!  Good luck team 10!  Vince,  it really makes me feel special that you have me on your team!  Thank you!

I still have until Oct 1st before my season starts but once it does I will be wide open. I have a little over 100 acres and we have taken allot of good deer on it. I am still looking for my first bow buck. I am picky with it since we can only take one buck per year. I have the crossbow and compound all sighted in and ready to go. This will be my first time hunting with a crossbow so I am chomping at the bit to take one down with it.

drenleg1  (Jason) checking in.  I am in West Virginia.  Last year with my bow I got a 120″ 8 pointer and a doe.  Year before last I got a 115″ 7 pointer and a doe but that’s in the past.  Hopefully I can score this year for team 10.  It always makes you nervous when you’ve had a couple of successful seasons in a row that you might strike out the next season.  We’re just gonna believe that’s NOT gonna happen

Oct 15 through January is our season.  I think we can shoot a total of 3 bucks,  not sure how many does,  I will check out the regulations plus the game warden will be going over all that Thursday at our next shoot.

Hello everyone, Cecil checking in from Tampa, Fl.  I have several hunts planned this year of which two I’m most excited about.  First is a public area that I got drawn for called Green Swamp West.  This is where our state’s non-typical record came from and notorious for big deer.  Second is my annual trip to Northwest Ohio in early November. Hunting with the HTR bought in April.  Cant wait to get started! Good luck to all.

Season opened yesterday Sept 26th.  I’ll be going out for my first sit in the morning for about 4 or 5 hours.  Supposed to get warm around 11 or 12.    Hope all is going well with everyone else.

I got close this weekend. I saw a total of 16 deer. I shot a big doe but unfortunately hit her in the shoulder and could not find her not the best way to start the season but I am seeing them and know things will turn around. I let a small 8 point walk at 20 yards. It would have been a chip shot but we only get one buck a year and I want it to be one of the monsters that I have on game camera. While tracking the doe that I shot I found my number one hit lister dead in the creek. I believe he died from the EHG Virus that is going around. I had pictures of him until middle of August then nothing. He was picked clean no flesh or anything on him. Now I got to start looking at the twin bucks that I have on camera as my number 1 and 2.

I had a 2 and a half year old 6 point flank me at about 60 yards yesterday.  Then had a year and a half old spike at 20 yards broadside.  He got a free pass.  Would much rather shoot a doe.   I’ve only hunted 3 mornings.   Been getting warm and movement stops by about 11:30.  Stays hot for most of the rest of the day and then they aren’t moving again much til after shooting light.  It’s still early in season though.  Really can’t wait for some cooler weather.

I let a small 8 point walk on Sunday. We are only able to shoot one buck a year and he just did not fill the requirements for me. I did however see the one that I wanted to shoot but he stayed over 80 yards away. He was a monster and was the largest deer that I have personally seen in the woods. I believe he is a huge 8 point but the body on this guy was amazing. I moved my climber close to the area that I saw him and will be sitting in it Sat morning hoping he comes back by.
