I didn’t see that this was posted any where in here but I wanted to share with everyone this recall. I received a letter in the mail from Dick’s, where I purchased another Summit stand last year. The recall is for the seat-o-the-pants harnesses that are tan/beige in color. On the tag if it reads “made in china” on one side and manufactured in “2005” on the other side then the harness will be replaced for free.

Go to http://www.harnessrecall2005.com for more information and pictures.

    Be safe

I think since so many people from this site own a summit (including myself) this should be a sticky for awhile…. :thumbup

Thanks for the info guys, I have two that fall into this recall. The stupid thing though is that you have to send your old one back before they send a new one (3 – 4 weeks later). I think I may just wait until after November to send mine back… :whistle

Also, FYI, the problem has to do with the buckles loosening up too easily, or at least thats what they told me on the phone today…

I filled in the online request and got the letter in the mail 3 days later. I sent in the cut off piece of the harness yesterday so we will see how long it takes. I never used that harness as the stand I bought wasn’t my first and I have a handful of other harnesses. I do however give those free ones away to people who dont use a harness so I am glad I never gave this one away.

Did you cut any of them off? I know I do sometimes because they always seem to be in a spot that can be noisey. For this harness they were located where the harness would connect to the strap that is around the tree. Use the link in the original post to see what the tags look like.

I received the new harness yesterday via fedex. The turn around time was pretty darn good.

Yeah my buckles kept coming loose on mine. I threw mine in the trash before the recall.

I have a LB harness and use the free ones that I have only when in need or when lending/giving them out to someone that doesn’t have a harness. I would recommend that you be careful in the stands with those harnesses and use the recall ASAP. Also, I wouldn’t think there would be an end date to the recall but Iwould check on that as well.
