He deserved to ride the lightning the moment he chose not to listen to the commands of the police.

Had he laid down and been cooperative, or better yet NOT jumped on the field in the first place, the situation would have been drastically different.

The Taser is the best thing to happen in law enforcement in a long time.

Minimal impact to the perp, less chance for the officer to get hurt doing his job.

    Use it more.

Since when is a 17 yo kid in a Phillies t-shirt with a rally towel such a threat to national security? Don’t get me wrong, I hate the Phillies as much as the next guy but come on.

Maybe we outta start tazing j walkers and people with more than one unpaid parking ticket too. After all, you never know what their true intentions are until you drop ‘em and cuff ‘em. Just sayin…

What’s the kids responsibility in this? Nobody forced him to jump the wall… nobody forced him to run on the field… nobody forced him to disobey the police officer when he was instructed to stop…

There are many worse outcomes for the kid that getting lit up like a christmas tree… I honestly don’t have a problem with this.

Getting tased stings but I’d rather be tased than tackled. The Taser prevents a lot of injuries…..

If it was a national security issue they would have shot him ;)

So is the issue for you the fact the kid is 17? He is old enough to follow directions and clearly know right from wrong. Had he followed the instructions 1: Stay off the field! Which he knew was wrong heck he even called his dad to see what he thought 2:When he was dumb enough to break rule one had he followed the LEO’s orders to stop and get on the ground he wouldn’t have been tased.

Problem is you don’t know what else he has on him or his intentions. There is no guarantee he’s not carrying a weapon.

Not to be argumentative, but we know that some people have died from being tasered. So, with respect, I would ask you guys who support the tasering of this kid……would you think differently if it had killed him? As I said, I’m not trying to start a fight. I think it is an honest question.

Well, lets look at it a different way. How about the kid stays in the stands? If he doesn’t leave his seat, he doesn’t get ZAPPED!

I’ll bet a lot of other morons will think twice about running onto the field now!! He got what was coming to him.

It is a valid question. I’d hate to think it would make a difference. I really try avoid situational ethics in most cases. The “taser” issue does raise some good points people have died as a result. The other side is there is a large body of evidense that supports the idea that they are effective and safe. On thing I am sure of is that they are safer on the law enforcement than going hands on. I’m concerned about their saftey as well. People don’t factor that into the discussion.
