I don’t normally take a position like this in our forum, but I think we are being a little hard on the author of this post for expressing his views. I dont’ think it is unreasonable for him to share his opinion on this. Mathews has always responded well to customer input on this forum (slimmer grips, etc) so why is his input on the bow trim color so out of bounds?

I don’t care for the red either, but not because I think it would scare game or be dangerous in the woods. I just don’t care for the look. I would be much more interested in a Z7 if they would offer a version without it.

Deer can’T see in the red range anyway….that’s why my fletchings are red and white. All matches my set up perfectly.

Like a few of you, I don’t understand why so many have jumped all over this man for asking a simple question. Geeez….you’d think he just insulted your President (oh, wait, that would be okay :).)

However, I do recognize that bowbuilder’s use of BOLD CAPS does make the post a little more aggressive and negative in tone which might account for much of the negative feedback.

But from where you is hunting I reckon the woods is alive with gun fire, what with folks shooting every red leaf and berry in the bushes… ;)[/quote:3t4eg9cr]

Not too far fetched around here. A lot of gun hunters shoot at noises in these parts, assuming that only deer make noise in the woods.

Personally, red is probably my least favorite color but I’ not going to pass on a bow because of a little thing like that. It’s a bow not a showpiece. [=}=]

I think it’s OK not to like it, or even Hate it, thats fine.
On the same token, if ya dont like it….dont buy it thats OK too.

In my restaurant, I offer a Delmonico, Filet, NY Strip, and Veal Chop.
If ya want a Porterhouse…..heck, go somewhere else and get it. Thats OK.

i’m reading between the line here and i could be wrong but i think you just do not like the red on the bow…safety is really not the issue at all. if you follow the logic you put forth then there should not be a bow with brown (deer, turkey) or green (foliage) or gray (squirrel) or anything in between on a bow. again, i could be way off base here but i think you just do not like the red highlights on this bow. i think i see a reezen in your future.

Why not offer a black option? Color options are offered for everything else.
Seems pretty silly to me not to offer an option. The original poster doesn’t need to offer any justification beyond “I don’t really like the red.” Yet, he may love the bow otherwise.

I take hunter safety very seriously, but some of you young fellows get all too hetup about this camo thingy.. believe it or not… and it can be proven… :D we did kill animals before RealTree and Mossy Oak… and we did it wearing red flannel, and khaki with lacquered limbs and risers on 64” plus bows..

I fondled me one of them new Z7’s and I actually had to look to see all this RED y’all is talking about…

But from where you is hunting I reckon the woods is alive with gun fire, what with folks shooting every red leaf and berry in the bushes… ;)[/quote:1rij1t62]

Mel Johnson prefered red also.. :whistle

Then I reckon I’d be finding me some blaze orange or staying out of them woods, but then again I wouldn’t be a’worrying ’bout no little bit of red on my bow. :D

I like the red on the bows. But no one should ever wear anything red in the turkey woods. Do a google search for turkey, safety, red, and you will get a ton of hits about the dangers of doing so. It’s hunter safety basics from the NRA, WTF, and almost every state in the country. That being said…I would change out what i could and sharpie the rest.

Not gonna take sides here, but for those of you that think it is ridiculous to think having “red’ on you (smaller than a plaid jacket) doesn’t matter….

“A 64 year old Garrett County turkey hunter was shot by another turkey hunter 130 feet away when the victim’s red hands were mistaken for a turkey. Victim received shotgun pellets to leg and groin. Non-fatal.”
    …….from this website….. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/nrp/2021hunt … dents.html

Not every hunter is as safe as you.

The human gene pool is very complicated! :^O

I agree. I don’t like the red either.
I am considering getting a z7, but the red will have to go. The rubber in the riser dampners should be easy. the rest may have to be powder coated or something.

I bought a DXT two years ago, this year a Monster and will pick up a Z7…..Colors don’t bug me…..its how it shoots is all I care about………
I have seen the Z7, and it looks pretty nice, didn’t get to shoot it because not a LH one at my shop….
As I creep in on 42, I really am wanting the smoothest drawing bow around…

I’m going to sit on the fence with this one guys. But i have something to say. Hes stating his opinion which is good for all of us. we all might not agree with this. But, it keeps us thinking. Lets all agree on one thing we are here because well love this great sport of ours. And love taking our Mathews bow along for the ride. No matter what color it is (lost camo, purple, pink, black blue, or yellow). No one is right or wrong on this topic it all a matter of choice. God Bless America.

(“Next time your out on your daily routine, and see a solider shake his/her hand and say thank you for giving me a CHOICE on how i live my life”)
    Thanks for hearing me rant
