Hell, In wisconsin if you get caught poaching they take everything used to take those deer including you truck or ATV if you hauled them with it and you cant hunt in the state for 5 years, not to include the fines of 1800.00 per illegal deer…..But I also think if you are caught poaching you need to lose you hunting privilege all over the US for the 5 years…..

If it was one person making an honest mistake or got caught up in the moment so to speak, then yes harsh enough. However that does not seem to be the case and the penalties should have been more severe.IMO [=}=]

Colorado participates in a number of Western States that have banned together to stop poaching. If you lose a license to hunt in any one State, you lose it in ALL the states. I think all 50 States and Territories should have such a mandatory law…poach in one, loose hunting priviledges in all.

Also, Colorado’s Game Thief program rewards those who provide tips on apprehending poachers with either cash or maximum preference points for limited area hunting. Since many of our prime elk and mule deer Game Management Units require as many as 14-17 years of preference points to be drawn, the cash is a meaningless reward…I only pray I can turn in a poacher for 17 years of preference points, MAKE MY DAY!

I grew up in northern MN. It is a virtual epidemic here. You lose all equipment involved and yet the scum are caught weekly.
