I do it all! Bow, blackpowder, rifle….. But we can take both weapons to the stand (Bow & BP or bow & rifle) as our archery season runs concurrently with the others, so I usually take both if I am hunting a pre-hung stand or the Double Bull.

I bowhunt 90%of the time but I feel bad if I don,t carry my rifles in the woods occasionally ;) and If the freezer gets too empty the 7mm08 can usually remedy that.

I prefer to hunt with a bow, but my 30.30 T/C pistol ranks a close 2nd.

bow and muzzleloader for me. When I say muzzleloader………Traditions Pioneer rifle. 50 calib. with a patch and ball. Iron sights.

I’m serious when I say I do not own a high-powered rifle. The one I had, I sold it to help me buy a Mathews bow…. ;)

After dozens of deer kills with a rifle, I became bored with the ease of gun hunting, so I bought a muzzleloader.

After 6 years of muzzleloader hunting and 11 kills, it was just as easy as rifle hunting, so I bought a bow.

After 4 years of bowhunting and 7 kills so far (3 8-point bucks and 4 does), I’ve still got the fever for it more than ever!! I find myself not even preparing for MZ or rifle. I just pick up the bow and go.

I love to hunt, the kill is least enjoyable part for me. The type of hunting you do with a bow is the most fun for me, up close and personal. But any hunt is fun. :thumbup

I love the kill. Especially if its effective and efficient. A huge hole carved completely through the animal passing through both lungs and the top of the heart. Yes, after the kill, I have moments of quiet respect and even a touch of remorse. But the kill is definitely a continuation of the adrenaline rush provided by the hunt. Is it October, yet.

Now skinning, cleaning, and butchering is work. Necessary work, and good work, but work nonetheless

I enjoy rifle, muzzleloader and archery seasons. However, my heart belongs to archery. To qoute a fellow bow hunter…..”Bow hunting: The ultimate rush”.

I’d rather miss one with an arrow than bust one with a bullet… ;)
