Monday morning found me in my 2-man ladder stand situated above an old stripcut behind my mother and father’s house. It was the first day of PA’s rifle season. Dad was hunting about 150 yards away next to a powerline. At 12:00, this fella came through with 9 does. One shot from my .308 and he was off to the races. It was so far over through the woods I wasn’t sure I would be able to tell where he was even standing. I didn’t even know if I had hit him. When I got there , there was signs of a good hit. I tracked him 50 yards with an excellent blood trail. I found him piled up out on the strip cut laying in the golden rod. Shot went through both lungs. I’ve decided to get a European mount of him. I have 1 doe tag left and I think I’ll save it for flintlock season after Christmas. I’ll be chasing them for Donner and the guys till then. Be safe and good luck to all!!
