I’m across the mountains in Rockingham county. When we got out of the truck this morning it was 42 degrees with rain blowing sideways. I was with a buddy of mine and I was going to tape him shooting his foirst deer (or so we hoped). We looked at each other and said “hey, it’s opening day and we’re already here”. He missed a big forkhorn standing still broadside at 12 yards 45 minutes into the season and then shot a little doe ten minutes later. Just for the 90 minutes we were outside we had gotten soaked and chilled to the bone, but it was a fun hunt and we got some PRICELESS video.
The forecast for the entire western half of the state looks AWESOME for like 8 out of the next ten days.
