    This past weekend I was trying to get our daughter to do a little
    thinking about the ways things are used and their purpose.  She’s eight
    years old, and pretty astute, so I thought that the question about
    “Why do we have windows in our house?” would  give rise to a response like
    “to let fresh air in” or “so we can brighten our rooms with light.”

    No.

    She quickly responded “So we can see our neighbors.”

    Gotta keep an eye on those neighbors!

    Things kids say…..LOL! The way they think is so simple, honest, and true isn’t it.

    My son is 10 now, last spring when he was 9, when the neighbors were spreading manure on their fields, stinking up the whole valley, he said “Dad, that maneuver spreader sure does stink doesn’t it?”  I get such a kick out of some of the things they say.

    Maybe she just meant so she can see the neighbors and signal them if her dad goes nuts. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_tongue}

    So how’s the new schedule going, Kev? Still staying on top of things?

    Today is the first study from home day since classes began.  We cover a lot of material in a short period of time, so if I’m not in class, asleep, or driving my nose is stuck in a book.  We have done a significant amount of hands on training at this point too.  Keratometry, retinoscopy, refraction, lensometry are what we have actually done thus far.

    Going good. I pray everyone else is doing well too.  Blessings!

    Keratometry?? Is that the study of how eating those orange pointy vegetables is supposed to help you see gooder? {#emotions_dlg.mathews_cool}

    Don’t we all have a little peeping tom in us — she was just being honest. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing} Basically we all people watch when we can and it’s interesting especially when you take for granted fresh air and lighting.

    I think Obama gave the same answer…

    Really, kids do say the funniest things.  My daughter is 2.5 and she gets some zingers….  Things we’ll always remember…{#emotions_dlg.mathews_love}

    Larry, your daughter must be a chip off the old block then.{#emotions_dlg.mathews_worried}{#emotions_dlg.mathews_tongue}

    Kids are so innocent and brutally honest, especially when it comes to questions or answers.

    It’s such a blast seeing the world through a child’s eyes!  Last week my daughter was reading a story to my 3 1/2 year old grand daughter.  The story said “when you catch a fish, you should wish upon a star.”  To which my grand daughter replied, “No.  Pappy says you should kiss it on the lips and toss it back in the water.”  Can’t believe she really remembered that little exchange we had while fishing a year earlier!
