New String

Ok I’m wanting to get a new string set put on my monster 6.I don’t have my own press and can not go to my local dealer to have new string set put on since I’m not ordering string from him so have to go to another local dealer thats not a mathews dealer,and they will not put my string grubs from old string on new set.So my question is does anyone know a good string company that installs them on your set. I contacted vaportrail and winners choice but no response. /i haven’t tried lancaster archery yet to see if they will transfer string grubs or not since they are fairly close to me as well.

Not really sure, my dealer will install strings you do not buy from him but he charges for the installation.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t buy a string set from your Mathews Dealer and have him install it … usually there is no cost for the installation, but there may be some labor charge for tuning. My Mathews dealer sells and installs at n/c the Winners Choice and Mathews Genuine strings, including the string grubs. I recommend the WC 8190X.

Search the Internet for ‘Super Tune’ and you’ll find shops that will install new strings, tune the bow, etc. I recommend The Bow Rack in Springfield OR (Dodge Girl/Ford Dude).

I would have my local mathews dealer do it but he got me on the last string.Mathews genuine custom colors and installation was over 300.00 every other shop around is qouting me a price 1/2 that so that is why I am not buying it from my dealer. Was just trying to see if I could get the string ordered with the grubs installed.

Give Jeff a call at http://www.jbkstrings.com. He will install your grubs but you will probably have to send them to him.

Your shop charges that much for string’s time to find a new shop that is outrage’s.

it’s a very simple task to change a string grub from old to new. do they not know that or just won’t do it? obviously not a very customer oriented dealer.

I think it is they just don’t want to do it their not a mathews dealer but they are still a quality archery shop. I only have 3 shops local to me 1 is my dealer who raped me on string then the non mathews shop that won’t do the grubs and the 3rd is another Mathews dealer that I just dont have experience with so I opted to call Lancaster archery which is like a 45 minute drive which isnt a big deal to me. String is on order they will install grubs and they not even charging 1/2 what I paid for last string.

Most string and cable sets for my MR7 were around $65 this past summer and I ‘ve seen them on reduced sale down around $60 here recently. These were by a very well known maker too. The grubs go on very simple and when I did mine I used gjarchers instructions it was a piece of cake. I sure don’t see what all the confusion is about them.
And that dealer charging you that outrageous amount is off his rocker and if that gets around his business is not going to be very competitive and he’ll be taking down his open sign soon.

Lancaster will treat you right. I wish I had them that close by.

I’ll have to keep that in mind next Jay has offered in the past as well. I’m planning on picking up a press here within the next month or so. I may have to throw you a few questions since I have never done my own work but am eager to learn and start.
