I didn’t think about the “Bo” “No” connection… Scratch one vote for Bo! Call your cat Bo and name the dog Woody! You could set up some epic battles at home for the weekend!

Is he in the habit of licking himself? If so, go with Alan. :D :^O :^O

Good Luck with him. I have a 1.5yr old springer spaniel, named Dakota, as in the firearm company Dakota. Man can he jump straight up in the air he’ll hit 6ft straight up. Hope he turns out as good as mine, you’ll love him. He’s very loving and good with the kids. O by the way springer spaniels think they are lap dogs, 40+ lbs lap dogs. As posted in one of the other posts, Bo is cool but its too close to the word NO. I ‘d try to come up with another one, because no is a word your gonna use alot as a command. One other thing invest in a good pair of hair clippers, he looks like hunting stock and their hair can get a lil unruley, and your wife will probably dig the fact you can “style his hair”, LOL. Later

great conversation guys. I never thought of the Bo = No. That’s no good! I’ll have to DQ that one. Looks like Mick or Ruger are coming on strong. I just can’t seem to get colt off my tounge. I do like the beverage theme… Here is my other dog “spud” after the budweiser dog from the past. He’s going on 11 now and can’t take the hunting like he used to. It was time to bring in a fresh pup while he can still help teach the little one.

Dogs respond better to two syllable names. RU-GER.

I don’t know if I’d admit to doing this…….especially with this crowd :!:

Back to the topic, I’d go with a 2 syllable name…….like stated before, it’s easier to say when yelling it out, breeders have told me that the dog themselves get less confused with 2 syllable names too.

I picked Ruger out of the 4, if not, I’d go with Switchback :?: :!:

maybe “LD” just for Alan’s sake :p

As stated above most commands are one syllable therefore a two syllable names cuts down on confusion for the dog.

BTW, that’s one good looking pup!

Thanks for the input everyone. I was really amazed that a two cylable name was preffered over a one cylable. I had always heard the opposite. That brings a new point to ponder with the wife. So far we have started calling him Mick, but we are not set on it yet. Thanks for the info and help everyone. I’ll keep you posted on our final decision.
