    We lost our awesome little cabin during the devastating wildfires last year. So we started from scratch, using trees that were killed during the fire, but not completely toasted. It has been a long and hard process but things are starting to take shape. We have done all of the work ourselves. My stepdad is a masonry contractor, so the foundation and pillars were a piece of cake. We built his and my moms log house about 10 years ago, so some of the tricks and techniques needed for notching and scribing the logs were somewhat fresh in our memory banks. We still have along way to go to be totally finished, but right now our goal is to have doors and windows in and have the outside chinked by the time winter hits and finish it up next spring. I’ll post more pics when we get more work done.

    Sorry about the loss of the old cabin, but good for you on re-building. Wow, I would love to have a log cabin. Not so sure the borough council would appreciate it as much as myself, however. (Living in town now and missing the country life. Stinks! LOL)
    Looking forward to the pics.

    Don’t know why the pics didn’t work. This is my first post since the forum was “upgraded”.

    We are in the pine ridge area of nw Nebraska. When my wife gets home maybe she can figure out how to post pics. I didn’t have any troubles on the old forum posting pics. I am not any kind of a computer stud so I am obviously doing something wrong.

    I apologize for my lack of computer skills. Somehow I got a few picks to upload, but not sure exactly what I did! Anyway, this is the cabin as of yesterday. The deck will wrap around 3 sides and will be covered. So the left side of cabin will look just like the right side. By next weekend we should have the roof on the west deck finished and all the deck done. I will try to post more pics of the progress if anyone is interested!

    Wow it looks awesome.  I helped build a log home from a kit.  It was a ton of work I couldn’t imagine building one from scratch.

    “if anyone is interested!” Count me as VERY interested! What a beautiful setting and what looks like a cabin with beauty to match! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}{#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}
