I got my new Heli m  fro  my dealer on tuesday,I set it up and shot some arrows out of it,it has a lot of noise coming from the bow.We checked every screw on it,everything is spot on for specs but the bow is much louder than any mathews i’ve ever owned. The screw for the rollerguard was ready to fall out,the dead end was loose, the cam module was also loose,I’m getting the feeling someone didn’t do their part assembling this bow properly, and thats why I have a loud bow.

Its loud enough that i wouldn’t hunt with it.We took all the acc.off to see if anything was making the noise, its definately the bow. Here is the lesson I learned,I spent $920 plus %15 taxes on top of that for a quality bow,and i didn’t get what i paid for.I don’t have the time to send it back and wait,I bought a bow to shoot not play around at my dealer getting what should have been right when it left the factory, this bow has been out long enough to have the bugs worked out.

I’ve shot Mathews since 1992,but i guess its time for a change,I got a lemon and for that kind of money i should have got a perfect bow from the start. This is what really makes me upset, the bow is a few days old,and it is showing lots of wear at the grip, having hardly been shot.It has a rough finish in front of the grip like little dots under the finish, and its rubbing off showing white dots.

Not what i expected out of a Mathews,I have a mq2 with the old trebark camo that has NO wear on the grip ,so whats wrong with my bow?Did i get a lemon?Of all the Mathews i’ve owned this one is the worst for me.

I’m in Canada so it makes it that much worse. We have no dealers only distributors that Mathews won’t even talk to on the phone,I was at the shop and saw this for myself.I don’t want the bow fixed,it would need to be a complete replacement or nothing at all.I still can’t believe this is what i got for a new bow.It sucks.

While I agree that shouldn’t happen, that Mathews should have better QC going out the door, can’t everything you mentioned be fixed in less than 15 minutes by your dealer using a little Blue Lock-Tite?

It’s like getting my $53,000 Chevy Suburban delivered with under inflated tires and low oil level … someone needs a whoop-A, but the dealer is there to correct things.

I agree with Brian, all that can be fixed very quickly.  As for the wear by the grip that one I don’t have an answer on.  Have your dealer contact Mathews and see what they say, they have exceptional customer service.

How are you living your Dash?

While Brian has very valid points, I think this is a sign of what happens to a company when they get too big.  They tend to loose focus on what made them the best in the first place…  Hope you get it straightened out…

Are you sure you did not get a demo model or one that sat on the rack for a while “man handled” by everyone?

At a store, I once saw someone pick up a brand new helim on the rack and to my shock, draw and dry fire it, and put it back on the rack.

for this reason I always insist on a new bow with all the labels, including the one on the string, preferably in a sealed Mathews box.

No chance,it was in a sealed box from Mathews,I actually opened the box up and removed the bow myself.

What bothers me a fair amount about it,is i’m 18-19 years into shooting single cam mathews, and over here in Canada you don’t have many shops to go to ,and the “take it your authorized dealer”doesn’t apply,we only have distributers here,no dealers with any stock.I would say i’m s.o.l on this one.Very disappointed in what i pulled out of the box,It has been my only bad Mathews bow purchase i’ve had,and nobody can change it i guess,I don’t want to go through all the steps to try and remedy this ,the only solution i see is getting a brand new bow,and i doubt that is gonna happen. The finish wearing off after minimal shooting is bothersome.

I see a lot of things on this bow that tell me it was not put together by anyone who was paying attention to the job at hand.Anyway, this is all i have to say ,live and learn .My friend ordered a chill that came in the same day, looking the 2 bows over, his was PERFECT in every way, dead silent too,we couldn’t believe the difference in the 2 bows.

Wow that sucks!. What I don’t understand is why you say there are no dealers in Canada. The “find retailers” area of this website shows that there are 28.

If you bought the bow from any one of them, they should take care of you. Otherwise you should contact Mathews directly.

I’ve been in archery long enough to have just about everything that could possibly go wrong, go wrong. I’ve found that giving a company a chance to fix their screw-up or product failure before going public usually has good results … a hassle, but it gets taken care of, at least the good companies take care of their product issues.

To name some of the best companies that I’ve dealt with on issues are:

    • Mathews Inc.
    • Stealth Archery
    • KTech Designs
    • Bohning Archery
    • Winners Choice Strings
    • Trophy Taker
    • Gold Tip (Gillingham)
    • Sure-Loc
    • Carter Enterprise
    • TRU-Ball
    • Precision Design Products (PDP)
    • Quality Design Products (QAD)

Well, that sucks that you got a bow that wasn’t made well from Mathews… I have a HeliM as well, and its super quiet, and shoots extremely well. And the finish is amazing!!! However I don’t agree with your decision to not take it to a Mathews dealer there in Canada. You spend $928.00 on a bow that should perform right and have a top quality finish.. So even though it may take some additional time on your part you owe it to yourself to take the time and any Mathews dealer would and should take care of you.. Mathews is great because they make outstanding, perfect shooting, consistant bows with an awesome finish, but sometimes things can go wrong. what also makes a company great is that they stand behind there products and will fix the issues of your bow.. I shoot my Helim constantly all the time and my finish looks just as it did when I picked it up from my pro-shop.. I hope that you do take your bow to get fixed and that you do enjoy your new bow..

All these problems can be dealt with quickly by your dealer…except the finish…and that will wear off anyway if u use the bow enough.

I traded my Z7 for a Helim earlier this year. It also seemed loud to me compared to my Dren and Z7. I took the monkey tail off the bottom by the string grub and put it on top of the string and now it is whisper quiet.

That is most likely a warranty issue.

I know you already went through the rant that you bought a bow to shoot, not put in the mail, but if you want to get this stuff taken care of, you’ll have to put up with the warranty process. Notify your dealer now about this, bring it in next time you get to the dealership.

Yes,I know Brian, but i should also note that the closest dealer to me is 475 km roundtrip, thats a fair distance to travel. When I run my hand across the front of the grip its bumpy and what is wearing is the high spots under the camo dip, wearing in the pattern of round little dots.I haven’t shot it anymore and the shop is aware,I plan to bring it back and see what happens, meanwhile i sold my z7 xtreme, which i now wish i had never parted with.My problem is our small shop gets the bows through Monsens which in turn gets them from Mathews, the bow has to go back to the shop, then back to monsens ,then to Mathews. If warranty parts are ever needed, same scenario, parts go frommathews to monens, then to our little shop.Mathews will not deal with these shops here direct, too small .
