To start I am just getting back into shooting. Found out that I needed a 32in dl to properly shoot compounds. So I picked up a monster mr8 I have the dl set to 31.5 and draw weight set at 65lb. I have the mathews qad rest and axcel vision sight, and carbon express Maxima hunters 450.The problem I am having is with paper tuning and arrow flight. When I try to paper tune I have a 4in tear nock right when set at 13/16 for center shot. to get the tear under a inch I am far left to the point where when I walk back point of impact walk left and by 30yards it’s off the target. I have tried to walk back tune and then paper tune but still get a 4in tear center shot seems fine at 13/16 when doing the walk back. I have been searching the forms for some kind of answer with no luck. Dealer says over spiend that I need the 350 hunters everyone else says I have the right arrows. Another idea someone had was the rest so I ordered a smack down pro.then today someone else said that because of my dl I would not be able to tune a drop away rest that I needed a full containment rest like a whisker biscuit. So I could really use some help so I am not just throwing money out trying to tune this bow

    Hello Sir.
I recently purchased a MR 8 as well and noticed the same issue although not by shoot thru paper, just the fact that my terminator hunters were just torqueing in to my 3d reinhart targets..I did change to the 350 mayhem hunters found on ebay around 63.00/ 6 arrows. my groups and flight of arrow tighten instantly. I have shot the next step up carbon express but the price difference keeps me from purchasing those arrows.  try the 350 at you shop if able.
    have a successful year.

Take a look at this post.

Brian tore his down and put new cables and strings on his Monster. Then he retuned it.

I’m not sure how you determined you needed a 32″DL — but I can tell you that having a bow that doesn’t fit you in a primary cause in creating form issues — which include torquing the bow. Torquing the bow can in turn manifest itself in being unable to get a paper tune.

The other thing that doesn’t sound quite right is the concept that the ability to tune a drop away rest is somehow related to the bow’s DL.

Search on the forum for posts by GJARCHER

If I remember correctly, he has addressed issues with drop away rest that are tied into the cables with the AVS cam system.

I’d suggest you read through The Nuts And Bolts Of Archery. Great read with tons of information.
