    Hey guys,

    I have the following:

    Mathews MR6 (2013)
    29 inch draw
    70 and 80 lb limbs.

    I am looking to find the best arrow at both 70 and 80 lbs. I want to stay as close to 5 grains per pound of draw that I can to maximize speed. I am having a **** of a time finding a good shaft. My program suggests Forge Xtreme 50/70 at 70# draw and Quest Thumper HD at 80# draw…. The problem is that I know very little of these manufacturers and tried to find where I could buy them and came up empty… Seems like the major brands do not offer a solution. Arrows will be for 3D and hunting.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Corey

    What program are you using to select the proper shaft?

    To me this going to be difficult because this bow with your specs is going to take a .300 to .250 spine arrow. I don’t know of any shafts made in the 5 grain per inch in those spine. The Gold Tip Velocity is a 8.5 gpi shaft with a .300 spine. About every thing else is a bit heavier and not close to the 5 gpi.

    300 spine Easton Powerhouse
    cut to 29″
    275.5 grains
    13 grain nock
    21 grain insert
    50 grain screw in tip

    359 grains/ 70 pound DW = 5.135 grains per pound

    go to the 90 grain tip to get to 399 grains for the 79.5 pound DW. (5.01 grains per pound)

    399/80=4.9875 grains per pound —- too lilight you didn’t say what fletch — you could go as light as 3 grains per vane

    How about for the 70# draw:

    Victory Archery
    VForceHV V1 @ 29.25 inches
    Weight = 350.3

    spines perfectly it seems.

    OK, this is what im going to order…

    Victory VFORCE HV V1 300 arrows
    28.75 inches

    insert = 11 grns
    vforce pin bushings = 11 grns
    bohning pin nocks = 4 grns
    bohning blazers = 16 grns

    28.75 inches X 7.2 grns per inch = 207

    207 + 100 grn tip = 307

    307 plus above accessories =  351 grains with an FOC of 11.75% at 334 FPS

    Perfect?!
