Welp, I thought I was the only one that named my bows, but I see Vince has come up with Potsie for his new Drenny lol. So, I have mine narrowed down to 3 and I wanted an opinion from my brothers to see which one you thought was best. I am really leaning towards Thanatos, but I’m not sure if naming my bow after a guy makes me, well, you know lol

If you’re gonna kill stuff with it……. you have to go with “God of Death” IMO.

Since your bow will become one of your best “buddies”, it only makes sense to give it a guy’s name. But why not something pronouncable, like “deerslayer”?

I figure if noone can pronounce it then there’s less of a chance that someone will copy me lol :D

The Greek goddess Aphrodite is primarily known as the goddess of love, seduction and romance, for which her beauty was of course an important feature, but not what she stood for.
I actually do like to consider my bows female, and think of them as “her” or “she”, and that is conducive for my “love” for them, but I certainly wouldn’t consider her a goddess of love and seduction.
Not only that but the name Aphrodite is kinda long.

Since the Greeks had such a pantheon of goddesses there are plenty of others to choose from. What comes to mind is:

Hera, the Queen of the Gods.
    Homer’s Ode to Hera:
“I sing of golden-throned Hera whom Rhea bore. Queen of the immortals is she, surpassing all in beauty: she is the sister and the wife of loud-thundering Zeus, the glorious one whom all the blessed throughout high Olympus reverence and honor even as Zeus who delights in thunder.”

As for the male names Kratos is a really good one, IMO.
Thanatos, is not just associated with death, but murder, and today has some pretty negative connotations.

Another really nice name would be Artemis

Artemis was the Goddess of the Hunt (with the bow no less) and had a quiver full of painless silver arrows. Although she was stunningly beautiful, she was very cold and she swore never to marry. She had only one love, a hunter named Orion.

Now wouldn’t it be cool if your bow made you feel like Zeus or Orion! 8D
