Just needed to vent a little. I had awesome deer pics all summer and early fall with 6 bucks that were serious shooters. I’ve only seen one of them and he was hauling the mail on the back side of a doe and wasn’t stopping for anything. After this fresh snow fall we had last week I seriously see why I haven’t seen hardly any deer this year. I’ve got more coyote tracks going through where I hunt than I have deer tracks. I’d say at least 4 to 1. I’ve got one trail cutting through that is 4ft wide with coyote tracks.

Kill them suckers!!! I hunt 25 miles east of you in Butler county KS and I feel ya. We had so many yotes we would see 4-5 a day hunting. I once shot a buck in the evening and got him next morning and it was nothing but a head and a spine, BUT this year with the drought we did not see one – we heard them a time or two.

When we were seeing them my buddy killed one and they disappeared for the rest of our hunt so maybe if you can kill on and leave it there may help? just a thought not based on exp.

The drought you all are having is a killer ALL our ponds are mud and Im fearful for the midges next season. We never saw such few deer and feel thew went to river bottom 1.5 miles from us. How about your area?

My Buck killing skills are sick – too bad there not contagious!!!

Yep I’d be going after some coyotes! Shot a doe couple years ago and within half an hour coyotes had already got her! She didn’t go over 50 yards from where I shot her ether, just so thick you couldn’t see her!

cjmay, I’m up northeast and i feel your pain. Got about 14 does on the prop and 3 bucks. I’ve seen coyotes everyday and a bobcat yesterday.

If you ever want to get together on a coyote hunt let me know.

I understand where you’re coming from. I’m going coyote hunting for the first time this year to see if it’ll impact my deer hunting success or not. I always hear from older guys that deer hunting was awesome in the 70’s and 80’s, they say seeing less than 10 deer was a bad day for deer hunting back then in WI. I have yet to see a total of 10 deer while hunting and my friends think I’m such a ‘serious’ hunter because all of the effort I put into it, so I don’t know if I’m just jinxed, or if there’s a problem with deer population or if I just suck at hunting. If I shoot a button buck next fall I’ll be tempted to have it mounted because it took me nine years to shoot a male deer. Oops I guess I’m venting now, I apologize.
