Not gonna happen, it’s been discussed before and it’s not something I think they are interesed in plus it would be a nightmare to try and moderate. There’s plenty of chat area available online that some groups here already use but it’s not an official “Mathews” chat room. Best thing you can do if you want to get a chat together is PM the guys you’d like to chat with and go to yahoo messenger or someplace like that to meet up.

I think it would be a great idea but as Brian said, I can understand Mathews not wanting to have people moderating it 24/7 because that would get a tad tedious.

You think that hunting ethics discussions can get out of and on a bulletin board… #-o

I guarantee they would be nothing[/i:20e179yg] compared to the emotions displayed during a real-time chat. ](*,)

You know all those posts where people type [/i:20e179yg] ? In chat, there is LITTLE opportunity for . And you don’t get do overs. [-X

I’ll catch static for this I’m sure. But…

I’ve come to see them as being not much more than troublesome. Any successful site that isn’t involved with one already is best off to stay away! (For starters, the few really good solutions are crazy-expensive.) Now don’t get me wrong, when people really gather to talk hunting and/or archery, for example, they can be really fun. However, the ones I’ve moderated or even owned over the years almost always end up being frequented by people who want to discuss anything but the outdoors. (I can see it now… “Mathews After Hours Chat” #-o 8-| ) It’s one thing if a moderator is there, but when one isn’t around it’s rough. It gets tiresome hearing, “Man, where were you?! We had a troll the past half hour!” every time you log in. ](*,) It doesn’t take much (or long) for a good thing to go bad.

All of that said, I do still run one on my site, HuntingResource.com[/url:1i4zgpl4]. There are a handful of people there who really seem to enjoy it and gather there most every night ~9:00 EST. (I haven’t the heart to take it from them.) I’ve offered its use to the forum members here in the past when the subject has come up and I will again now. :)

We don’t need it. We can talk all we want on IM or other chat rooms (AT has a couple).

What would it give us that we don’t already have? I don’t see the benifits outweighing the potential headaches. Ultimatly, would it help Mathews sell more bows? Answer “No”

    I said no.

We have the PM system if we want to
talk one-on-one with a certain individual.
    I don’t like interruptions when I’m talking
    with someone.
That would happen with a chat room.
I get into enough trouble anyway.
Probably, I’d tell someone to shut the &%#@
    up, I ain’t talking to you…
