I like the nocturnals. I just bought some pink ones. The nock is pink and then it lights red but of the available colors, this is the brightest so far. Never had one fail, and the are easy to turn off. Even after a complete pass through, clean them up and they work for me the next season!!!

They may be more expensive, but honestly, Firenock are the best out there.

Scratch that!!! I just took my new nocturnals out for a test ride tonight and guess what. 2 of the 3 exploded and shattered on the shot. I didn’t hit anything, thus happened as they left the string. Sounded like a gun going off. 1 worked flawlessly. 2 out of 3, bad odds! I don’t trust them any more. Also, they are broken to the point that I can’t remove them from my arrows so they are ruined too. Very disappointed.

I really liked the nocturnals until they got bought out. They are still a very durable and very reliable lighted nock. However, I got a pack about 5 months ago where 2 of the 3  were extremely hard to cut off. I gashed the index finger on my left hand with the little tool I use to cut them off with. I shoot mine alot I have over 40 and 10 I practice with regularly.  Exchanged that three pack but been watching to see if there were any more flaws so far so good.

Thanks for all of your input.  I just ordered a 6 pack of TBG’s for $30.  They had good reviews.

DryCreekBowman, I worked for FeraDyne Outdoors which owns Rage, Muzzy and Nockturnal. In my honest opinion (watching these things get built everyday) they are damn near fail-proof. The glue that holds the battery in the nock body is dried using a UV light and is extreamly tough. The piston system for turning the nock on and off is so-so. I say that because over time (if not careful) you can wear out the plastic portion of the battery. In turn you wont be able to turn the light off. I personally have Red GT Nocks in all my arrows and have shot them roughly 1000 times and so far so good. One downside to them; the marking on the package wasn’t matching up correctly, meaning if you shoot Beman ICS it says you should shoot a S Nock. This is incorrect It actually needs a GT Nock to fit correctly. Do some research on different arrows and nocks matching up before you go spend your money. Or give FeraDyne (Chris) a call and he will help you out. I know when I left they were working very hard to fix this issue so it may not be a problem anymore. Hope this helps.

I recently switched from lumenok to nocturnals. The lumenoks were ok but they sometimes didnt come one and would seldom stay on if I had a pass thru on a deer. The Nocturnals are surprisingly brighter and come on every time without out fail. Also there is no way the Nocturnals can shut off during a pass thru like the lumenoks can and do. I have the green nocturnals, very bright.
I have also tried the nocks from carbon express, they worked ok for awhile but all of them that i had failed inside the arrow shaft and then would not turn on anymore.

Father in law had same thing happen with some of his cross bow bolts. I took a coat hanger and straightened it out, took off field tip and pushed coat hanger through the shaft to remove broken nocks. If you cant get it through insert, try and heat up insert a little and pull it out, then use coat hanger to salvage your arrow.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the nocturnal.  I’ve never had one shatter, and they’ve always been reliable.  The only thing I don’t like about them is that you have to insert something very small into the hole to switch them off.  I think they could do a better job of finding an alternative to this.  I plan to use them again this hunting season.
