    Whats different or better with this forum than the day it was launched ?? IMO it is still dismal, and even the mods or forum members who “helped this new format” cant even respond to why they cant get tapatalk to work 100%. How long had it been??? 6 months ??

    Out of curiosity, as one of those forum members who ‘helped this new format’, how in the heck am I supposed to ‘respond to why they cant get tapatalk to work 100%’??{#emotions_dlg.mathews_doah}

    We were asked to give feedback and ideas. We did plenty of both. Don’t be fooled into somehowthinking that all of our feedback and ideas were heeded.{#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    Kind of what he said… we gave feedback, we pointed out a lot of the things you pointed out, we tried to bust stuff so we can find the weak spots.  They received plenty of feedback from us…

    I paid for Tapatalk just so I could see what it was all about.  I’m still not impressed with that app even on the forums I’ve logged onto where it does work.  I don’t see why that was the big bone of contention that some make it out to be.

    As for the format, I am getting used to it.  Mathews wanted it this way, and now they have it.  I still value people on this forum and the community it provides.  Is it the same as it was?  No.  Was the forum the same as it was when it first formed?  No.  People were crying about how things changed on the forum when I joined it after the first year.  Forums change, they are fluid.  To expect that it won’t change is naive.

    If you want a strong community on the forum, build a strong community.  If you are complaining that it does not exist, I ask “What have you contributed to make it stronger?”  If that sounds strong and offends it is not my intent… but it is a simple truth.  I’m not calling anyone person out and pointing the finger at them saying that they’ve ruined it for everyone…  There were a lot of people that had been here for a while that decided they were not enjoying this anymore and they left.  That was their choice.  I’d probably point out that there were a lot of them that had a mind to leave before the change over came and the roll over was the final straw they cited as the reason they left.  I’m pretty confident that even with the old format, there would have been some other “final straw” that would have precipitated their departure.  That won’t be a 100% true, it may not be 50% true… but the signs were there to be read.

    I don’t want to conjecture if this is better or worse, but it is different.  Different isn’t always bad, it is just different.  I’m sticking around for a bit.

    Yup and we gave a TON of feedback that evidently didn’t matter.  Had suggestions we made/big concerns such as layout and performance been taken the forum wouldn’t be like it is. Also mods have no control over programming they are just moderating content of posts.

    I asked months ago why I keep getting logged out, posted the info in the forum related questions, pm’d the webmaster as requested.  Never heard back and I’m still getting logged out.

    I maybe check here once a week at most. Very little traffic and I still can’t stand the layout, design and format of this forum

    That’d be the Sleeping Giant … kinda says it all, don’t it?

    If you want anything done, PM the Mods directly … {#emotions_dlg.mathews_brick_wall}

    You can hire an outfit that uses a “canned” website architecture, like WordPress, or you can hire a real professional who writes original code … just saying. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    Well I’d say “the original code” idea didn’t pan out so good in my book. This format is just too different from EVERY forum I’ve visited and I just don’t think it’s a good design. I’ll admit it’s one of the reasons I don’t come here much anymore.  I used to be on here 5-6 times a day, now it’s maybe once a week. I can’t help but feel the design is also turning new would be members away.

    Reinventing the wheel isn’t always the best or smartest option.

    one thing is for sure the mods job has been much easier

    I seem to be able to access the forum okay, but the loss of so many friends and valuable contributors on a regular basis is very discouraging. Like statedriller, almost makes a grown man cry. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_crying}

    I’m not really bothered by the format.  I’ve just scaled back my time on the computer in general. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    I think that is true… I’m busier than I’ve ever been.  I’m not online nearly as much as I once was.

    If it weren’t for the people and Mods on this forum, I’d have given up long ago … almost did, but stuck around long enough to see most of the really bad implementation and flaws corrected.

    AT has a much easier, user friendly, no whistles and bells forum, but its the crowd of fanboys, antagonists, nay-sayers, and general troublemakers, often giving ‘newbies’ incredibly bad advise, so bad I take it as intentional, and a lack of Mod supervision, which keeps my use of AT to a minimum … mostly just reading and looking for the respected posters, like Nuts&Bolts, Daniel Boone, X-Ring, etc.

    I’m in agreement with you about this forum. I said it before there are several other forums I’m on that are a walk in the park and some have some bells and whistles. It’s easy to compare this forum to those other forums and they are better without question. This Forum has so gradually changed for the better but it still is childish compared to the others. There are too many good forum, as examples, out there for this one to be in the shape it’s in.

    I don’t blame the folks that left.

    And with the crazies on AT, I hardly comment on there. Most of the comments and ideas on threads there are a hoot. I’m more looking at the AT stuff for sale. Anymore I just glance done through it and occasionally see what Bows are being sold to get an idea on pricing and what seems to be on the market especially the brand new ones. Always wonder about why those brand new bows are for sale?

    I hope this thread is being understood by the powers who control it as a strong hint that its approval rating is like the House of Representative right now. Truly!

    unfortunately like the government I don’t really think the powers that be care what “the people” think about the forum. If they did something would have been said and done a while ago.   Truly sad since this use to be my home on the web. Now it’s just a place to visit for me.

    I haven’t been here in a coon’s age! It seems that the forum is running a bit faster than it was, but that was never a huge problem for me as I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. It seems to work OK.

    That being said, one of my main complaints about the new format has not been addressed, and that’s the lack of the “Forum Jump” option at the bottom of a thread. If I’m merely reading a thread in say, “Non-Archery Discussion” I can use the back button to get back to the “Non-Archery” page. However, if I make a reply that option goes out the window, since it deletes your reply! Not very well thought out at all! It’s very frustrating not to be able to do simple navigation around the forum.

    I’m also a member on the Ohio Game Fishing forum. It’s a part of OutdoorHub, and is a piece of cake to use! I believe they use WordPress, but obviously have people who know how to work with it.

    Sleeping Giant Studios? More like Unconscious Ogre Chamber of Horrors! OK, I’m going to submit this reply, watch the screen refresh, and then sit scratching my head wondering how to proceed! ARRRGGGHHH!!!

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.
