    How many leafs are still left on the Toronto maple trees?

    Can someone cheque?

    Aha….Lesson #46 coming right up:
    “May I have the cheque ma’am?”
    “I’m not sure.Let me check.”
    {#emotions_dlg.mathews_nerd}

    {#emotions_dlg.mathews_tongue}

    Fixed it for you Larry. You’re over-reaching abitwhen you try to mix Canadianwith the Deep South. Cheque mate! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_wink}

    Not entirely true Tommy. Although it is a little known fact in the American south, most, perhaps all, three letter words in the English language are pronounced as one syllable words. I know, I know, you didn’t realize that. But it’s true. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_smile}

    But Larry, nothing is lost in the south: language is like matter, it is never desstroyed. Because for those multisyllable words that we make monosyllabic, we also take monosyllable words and turn them into multisyllable words, thereby perfectly preserving the final content and taking the unexplainable and making it explainable. It’s language economy in its purest form.

    Well, y’all got me there. Can’t really argue with that lexicalization. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}

    See?  You’re even getting the hang of it!  You will reach near perfection when “you’uns”  flows naturally in speech and you can seamlessly deliver it in mixed company.  And part of the beauty is that you will add a syllable and still retain meaning, leaving you the option to drop a syllable somewhere else for speech efficiency.

    Yes. Now if I can just get my fellow Canadians to stop saying things like  “I seen that before” and “Yous guys are funny” I’ll be a satisfied, fulfilled man. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    Get back up here………..

    BTW, did you see where they asked Joe Namath what he thought about PETA objecting to the fur coat he wore to the SB on Sunday?  His response:

    “Who?”  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}{#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}{#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}

    We are in the market for a new vehicle for my wife. It needs to be able to pull a new camper trailer (ProLite, 850 lbs.). We’ve narrowed the options to the 2014 Toyota Rav4 and the 2014 Honda CRV. I don’t really have a preference and the drive-away prices are almost identical for the same options. Any opinions as to which one to go with? (I couldn’t convince her to get a new Tacoma like mine {#emotions_dlg.typotux}).

    Are you nuts? My wife thinks the Rav4/CRV hopabouts are too big! Besides, if we do go with one of these vehicles, when I occasionally drive it, it will be more in keeping with my intellectual, learned, professorial image. Either that or I’ll just look like every other nerd in the city. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    Disclaimer: In no way is the above statement meant to offend those who drive such vehicles. If you are mildly offended, you have taken my statement out of context. If you are really offended………….I don’t care).

    You obviously don’t know anything bout women.  Just tell her Tacomas weren’t meant to be driven by women.  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_whistle}

    But don’t blame me if your big boy pants are piled in the yard next time you come home.  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}

    It started as an experiment to see how long this topic would stay on page 1 without anyone posting to it. However, because you guys can’t figure out simple directions it has now morphed into a “free association” thread. So, any comment that does not warrant its own thread is fair game here. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_big_smile}

    Oh, by the way, my wife decided to purchase a 2014 Honda CRV. She’s a shrewd bargainer, and received a deal that Toyota couldn’t (or wouldn’t) match. I took it for a spin around the block and it handles very nicely. Initially, she was a little intimated by the size (compared to her 2001 Corolla), but is very comfortable with it now and loves it.

    Speaking about Honda CRVs, I really enjoy shooting my new Heli-m. That bow is definitely a shooter.

    See…..this is how free association works. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_nerd}
