    While this thread is officially a “free association” discourse, there are, nevertheless, some rules. For example, each post must be internally consistent, express only one major thought, be supported by empirical data where appropriate, and use Canadian spelling. Otherwise, you can’t play.

    P.S. In the interest of fairness to my American friends, I have decided to lower the requirementof “one major thought.” That may bedifficult to achieve for many, so let’s go with “a singular thought” instead.

    It's not how far you shoot, but how close you get.

    C’mon guys…..you’ve missed my point with this thread. The original intention was to see how long it stayed on the first page because new threads are so seldom posted, not because everyone keeps adding to it and bumping it up. But, hey, I like this better. This thread cannot be hijacked because it has no central theme. So, have at boys and girls. Finally, we have an outlet for all the random (and somewhat meaningless) thoughts we carry around in our heads. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}

    Fixed it for you Larry.  You’re over-reaching a bit when you try to mix Canadian with the Deep South.  Cheque mate! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_wink}

    Not entirely true Tommy. Although it is a little known fact in the American south, most, perhaps all, three letter words in the English language are pronounced as one syllable words. I know, I know, you didn’t realize that. But it’s true. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_smile}

    But Larry, nothing is lost in the south: language is like matter, it is never desstroyed.   Because for those multisyllable words that we make monosyllabic, we also take monosyllable words and turn them into multisyllable words, thereby perfectly preserving the final content and taking the unexplainable and making it explainable.  It’s language economy in its purest form.

    Well, y’all got me there. Can’t really argue with that lexicalization. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause}
